Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge - 2 August 2013 - Embossing - Wet or Dry or Both

It is time for another challenge over at the Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge Blog.  This fortnight the challenge is "embossing - wet or dry or both".
For my card I have used the Sweet Pea Stamps image by Ching-Chou Kuik called "White Peacock Dryad".  This image is available as a individual rubber stamp, on a stamp plate (Sheet 27, Plate 86 - it comes on a stamp plate with Ching-Chou Kuik's Jeweled, Radiant Butterfly and Field of Poppies) and also as a digital stamp. For my card I have used the rubber stamp and coloured it in with Promarkers/Flexmarkers and highlighted areas with a white gel pen.  I decided not to used any patterned backing paper as I wanted to use a new embossing folder and stamp set I got free with a magazine.  I highlighted the peacock embossing detail with a green Pan Pastel.  I have made the flowers with layers die-cut from a book and inked with Tim Holtz's Pine Needles and Peeled Paint distress ink, screwed them up and then held the layers together with brads.  I have finished the card off with the stamped frame/small peacock image that came with the magazine, card candi, raffia ribbon, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment, organza ribbon, peacock charm with some memory wire threaded through it.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Delicious Doodles Challenge - 2 August 2013 - Anything goes

Friday has come around and it's time for another challenge at Delicious Doodles.  Some of the Design Team are taking time-out for the summer and therefore today sees the start of a months' worth of challenges when Team A and Team B members who aren't taking a time-out are joining together for the challenges.  The challenge this week is an easy one to start you off as it's "anything goes".
For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Gothic Fairy" and have coloured the image in with my Promarkers/Flexmarkers, cut out the image and then distressed the edges with Tim Holtz's Black Soot distress ink pad.  The backing papers I have used I was given.  They have a gorgeous flocking on them.  I have distressed the edges with Black Soot distress ink as well as adding some to the cream lace I used for the card and the die-cut shape the image is sat on.  I have finished the card off with some buttons, sentiment from a Debbi Moore CD and some flock flowers cut out from another backing paper and I have edged with Black Soot distress ink.

Rebecca Sinz - Steam Punk Assassin

Here is another card I have used with the new Bearly Mine Designs digi set called "Steampunk Fantasy".  I can't say I feel comfortable making steampunk cards but I've had a go.
The image I have used is from Sweet Pea Stamps and is by Rebecca Sinz and is called "Steam Punk Assassin".  This gorgeous image is available as a digital stamp, single rubber stamp and as a multi-image plate (Sheet 11, Plate 234 and the image Steam Punk Assassin comes with the image Cecaelia, Harvest Moon and Dead Sea).  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers/Flexmarkers and used a cog mask and inked through around the image with Tim Holtz's Vintage Photo distress ink.  I have added some gold Stickles to the corners.  The backing papers I have inked through with a That Special Touch small clock mask and Vintage Photo distress ink.  I have gone over with the same turquoise mica powder as the previous card (that mica gets everywhere doesn't it.  I've washed my hands numerous times but they are still sparkling!!).  I have embossed some card with a Tim Holtz clock embossing folder, inked with Vintage Photo distress ink and brushed over some gold Stickles with my fingers.  I have finished the card off with a clock with wings image and a happy birthday sentiment from the Debbi Moore Shabby Chic Time Flies CD, die-cut cogs which I have inked with Vintage Photo distress ink, brads and some turquoise/brown trim which I've had for about 2-3 years.

Time flies over us but leaves its shadow ..............

Donna over at Bearly Mine Designs has just brought out a new digi set called "Steampunk Fantasy" so here is a card I have made with the papers from this set.
I have used a blue paper with balloons as the main paper.  I have used a cog mask and inked through with Tim Holtz's Vintage Photo distress ink.  I have then brushed on a turquoise mica powder.  I have cut out various cog dies and clock die, sanded, inked with Vintage Photo and added the same mica powder.  In two corners I have embossed a piece of card with a Tim Holtz watch embossing folder, inked, added mica to them and then tore in half.  The "time flies" sentiment, "happy birthday" sentiment and balloon image are all from a Debbi Moore Shabby Chic Time Flies CD.  I have finished the card off with some brads in the centre of the cogs and clock and some fibres.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Pile it On - Anything goes
Incy Wincy - Birthday and balloons
Kaboodle Doodle - Anything with ink or paint

One Sweet Challenge - August 2013 - Your favourite technique

We had a lovely array of entries for the red/white/blue challenge last month over at the One Sweet Challenge.  This month the topic is "use your favourite technique".
Yikes this was a tough one as I have many favourite techniques eg colouring with alcohol pens, using dies, making my own background papers and using different colour schemes.  I make my cards solely to sell to raise funds for different charities.  I often get sent items from fellow crafters for me to use.  Sometimes the papers aren't what I would buy/use so my favourite technique at the moment is to either stamp on patterned paper or like the card above to put it through an embossing folder and then drag an ink pad over the top.  This has helped me to use up so many papers that it won't be long before I'll need to buy papers!!!

For my card I have used the Sweet Pea Stamps image by Ching-Chou Kuik called "Owl Territory".  This image is available as a digital stamp, a single rubber stamp and as a plate of 4 stamps (Sheet 50, Plate 238 - Owl Territory comes on the sheet along with Spring Nocturne, Starlight Magic and Purple Immersion).  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with my Pan Pastels.
One of the backing papers I have used is Bearly Mine Designs Spring Surprise but the others I was given.  I have finished the card off with a Marianne Designs die-cut, lace, foam flowers and a butterfly which I've added Perfect Pearls to the centre and some mica, buttons and a Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Chocolate, Coffee and Cards - Animals
