Delicious Doodles Challenge - Friday 6 June 2014 - Favourite Delicious Doodles Image

It is Friday and therefore time for another challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  The topic for this week is "favourite Delicious Doodles image".

 Oh my goodness me that is certainly a challenge to pick a favourite Delicious Doodles image.  There are so many fabulous run-of-the-mill images to pick from but also lots of images on the "darker side".  

I have decided to use the image called "Rosie" that I have coloured with my Graph'it pens and went with the colour scheme of blue and purple.

I decided to make a decorated MDF tag which I have painted with Gesso and then a layer of blue acrylic paint.

  

   

I have then torn up pieces of blue papers from the Bearly Mine Mixed Media, Plain and Simple and Simply Stripes.  I have kept the pieces ragged rather than use scissors.  I then watered down some PVA glue and coated the tag with a layer and then added pieces of the torn paper all over the tag making sure I mixed around the scraps of paper.  The tag was then thoroughly coated with the glue to make sure all the pieces stuck and then left for a few days to thoroughly dry.

The decorated wall hanging has been finished off with some raffia ribbon (which was actually purple but not the right shade so I have painted it with white Gesso) with fibres threaded through, stringed pearls, gems, Prima butterflies (these were light orange but I coloured them with my purple Graph'it pens that I used in the image) and then I have made five 3D roses using two Bearly Mine Designs Plain and Simple papers and a Visible Image rose stamp from the "Isabella Lost Love" stamp set (I have stamped the whole rose out 20 times, 10 on each paper and then alternated the papers and just removed parts of the rose for each layer to decoupage it up).

Visible Image Challenge May 2014

Over at the Visible Image Challenge this month the topic is "anything goes".  It's two months until our 23rd wedding anniversary but I thought I'd get ahead and get my card made.  As it's not being posted I could obviously "go to town" with embellishments!!!

For my card I decided to use a Visible Image sentiment called "The One" as one of the main focal points of the card.  I love the words.

For my card I have used a brown plaid, from the Bearly Mine Design "Just Plaids" paper set.  I have also used a freebie burlap paper from Bearly Mine Designs as a backing paper and to stamp the sentiment onto.  I have distressed around the backing papers with Tim Holtz's Rusty Hinge distress ink.

An image I have used on the card is by Delicious Doodles and is called "Steampunk Heart" which I have coloured with my Promarkers and fussy cut around.

I have used the number and cogs die from the Visible Image stamp set called "Clock stamp - time after time" around the edge of the main backing paper with my Rusty Hinge distress ink.  I have stamped the pocket watch image from the same stamp set with black Versafine and fussy cut.

I have finished the card off with some X-cut die-cut cogs, dotty ribbon, Tim Holtz die-cut rosettes with buttons and twine in the centre, sentiment off the computer and some wooden heart embellishments which were coloured with my Rusty Hinge distress ink.

 It is the start of another challenge over at Delicious Doodles.  This week the challenge is "blue and brown".

For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Vintage Chevy" and coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens.  I have added Glossy Accents to the lights and windscreen.  The backing papers I was given.  Around the image I have stamped a crackle effect using a Sheena Douglass Aged Beautifully stamp.  

I have finished the card off with some ribbon I won in some candy, buttons and a die-cut sentiment.

Here come some mermaids ..................

Here are two cards that I made some time ago but never posted on my blog.

 The first card uses an image called "Flowers on the Beach" by Conie Fong.  It is available as a digital image at Sweet Pea Stamps.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Old Paper and Chipped Sapphire distress inks.

The backing papers I have used are from the paper pad called "The Seaside" by Crafty Individuals.  I have again inked around the edges with Tim Holtz's Chipped Sapphire distress ink.

I have finished this card off with some Marianne Designs die-cut shells which I have inked with Tim Holtz's Old Paper distress ink, doily, ric-rac ribbon, flowers (with sequin and brad centres and inked with Tim Holtz's Victorian Velvet distress ink) and a die-cut sentiment.

The second card is using a Sweet Pea Stamps Ching-Chou Kuik image called "Caribbean Treasure".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers.

The backing papers are from my stash.  My little skulls are from a stamp set from Visible Image.  I love their stamp sets as you get a main image and lots of other little ones to accent a card.  This skull comes from the set called "Max Rocks".  Make sure you pop on over to the Visible Image Shop to have a look at their wonderful stamps.  I have coloured the skulls with a Pastel Beige Promarker and then coloured over the top with a silver glittery Graph'it pen.

The card has been finished off with some raffia ribbon (which was purple but I painted with white gesso), die-cut sentiment and a Marianne Designs die-cut anchor which I have coloured with a Pastel beige Promarker and coloured over the top with a silver glittery Graph'it pen.

Visible Image Challenge - April 2014 - Tags

Over at the Visible Image Challenge Blog this month the topic is "tags" so I thought I would play along.  I enjoyed making the tag but have had a nightmare trying to photograph with or without a flash.  This is the best I can get with the mirri card and mica powder!!!

I decided to make my own backing paper for the tag.  I coloured areas of a piece of watercolour card with Tim Holtz's Mustard Seed, Old Paper, Dusty Concord and Black Soot distress inks.  I then put some water in a mist bottle and added some silver and purple mica powder, mixed well and then sprayed over the card.  I then used some kitchen roll to add texture and remove the colour in places.  I then finally rubbed some metallic gold Pan Pastel on for some shine.  I'd have used a metallic silver if I had one but I don't.  The card was then cut into a tag shape with a layer or mirri card underneath.

I then used a Visible Image stamp called "Isabella Lost Love" and stamped Isabella onto some white card and coloured in with Graph'it pens, highlighting her cape with a silver Graph'it pen for some sparkle.  Around the edge of the tag and over it I have stamped the splodges and skull stamp from the "Isabella Lost Love" stamp set.  Around the edge of the tag I used the chain effect stamp which comes on the stamp set called "Max Rocks".

I have finished the tag off with a doily inked with a purple chalk ink pad, raffia ribbon, purple raffia, die-cut flower with brad centres, buttons, faux stitching, satin/organza ribbon and a ribbon bow.

This is a card dedicated to all my lovely Blog followers and Facebook followers.  Yes this week certainly hasn't been easy and I never imagined come nearly Friday not to be able to open my mouth to eat/drink and not wanting to talk but I'll get there.  I've had the same surgery twice before but this time for some reason I am slower to recover.  My husband has been off all week on leave so he's had a very peaceful week!!

My crafty friend Lozzy sent me a card recently with this gorgeous character on.  I'd seen this image from La-La Land Crafts some weeks before so it was ironic.  Well I had to just have it myself - along with a few others - to cheer me up.

This character is called "Steampunk Marci" and she is available from La-La land Crafts.  I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens.  Around the edge of the image I have used a Visible Image cogs die from their wonderful set called "Time After Time" and then used a black Pan Pastel for the background.  To add a bit of shine around the edge I have used my gold Pan Pastel.  I have added some Glossy Accents to her goggles.

For my backing papers I have used a paper from a newly released sent from Donna at Bearly Mine Designs.  I have used a paper from Mixed Media 2 set but also a Mixed Media set has been released as well.  They are both FANTASTIC sets and come with thirty 6x6 papers in each set for £4.50.  That is wonderful value.

With such a wonderful backing paper I didn't really need to add much apart from some plain cardstock, twine/fibres, various die-cut cogs held on with brads, sentiment from a Debbi Moore CD, gems and finally a sentiment from the Visible Image "Time After Time" stamp set which says "learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow".

Visible Image Challenge - March 2014

The Visible Image Challenge this month is to "use your favourite Visible Image Stamp".  Well that's a challenge in itself.  I can say that I love ALL the Visible Image Stamps I have and if money was no object I'd have them all - well all bar one as I have a thing about clowns/jesters/Pierrot dolls - and poor little Harley comes in this category as he's a jester.  It's amazing what some people can love some can hate and some can have a "thing about"!!!

Picking a favourite as I said wasn't easy.  I feel in love with this company for mainly their boy images.  I have two boys and over the years have struggled so much for images to make their cards.  My youngest would love to see a basketball playing character as him and his friends love their basketball.

I have though decided to go with one of my new stamps sets called "Isabella Lost Love".  Isabella is certainly one of my favourites now and I also love the other embellishments on the stamp set especially the rose.

I have coloured Isabella in with my Graph'it pens.  

  

I have then stamped Isabella again onto some Bearly Mine Designs "Plain and Simple" pink paper and cut her dress and shoes out to paper piece.  It was quite fiddly but I did the tip Jodie from Tonic shows on the TV about putting a bit of glue on the back of your hand to dab delicate pieces into the glue.  This helped especially with the tiny shoes.

The backing paper I have used is from the new set just recently released from Bearly Mine Designs called "Mixed Media".  It is a fantastic selection of papers with various textures/effects added but the bonus it is in just one piece of card.  It's lovely doing these effects ourselves but it can add depth to a card or even take time we haven't got.  With these papers it is just a case of print and use.  Wonderful.  The "Mixed Media" papers are due out in the Bearly Mine Designs Shop on Thursday 20 March 2014.

I have finished the card off with the stamped/decoupaged rose cut from the pink Bearly Mine Designs "Plain and Simple" paper, punched out hearts, ribbon, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and some gems.

Birthday Wishes

Here is a male birthday card I have made.  I have used the Visible Image stamp set called "Max Rocks".  I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens and had a go at colouring denim which is the topic this week at the Graph'it challenge.  I have then used a mask I made of Max and stamped the chain that comes in the set with sepia Versafine and then inked around with Tim Holtz's Pumice Stone distress ink.

The backing papers I have used are from the Bearly Mine Designs Steampunk Fantasy 2 set.  I have gone around the edge of the papers with a gold Pentouch pen.  I have embossed some brown card with a Tim Holtz cog embossing folder and then inked over with Tim Holtz's Pumice Stone distress ink.

I have finished the card off with some brown string, Craftwork Cards sentiment and some die-cut buttons.

Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge - Friday 14 February 2014 - Vintage

 Time for another challenge over at the Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge Blog.  This fortnight the topic is "vintage".

 For my card I have used a Sweet Pea Stamps image by Meredith Dillman called "Airships".  It is available as a digital stamp and a rubber stamp.  I have kept the colour scheme of this card to blue, burgundy and a little grey.  I have coloured in the image with my Graph'it pens.  I got a voucher for Christmas and with it bought some grey Graph'it pens so they worked perfectly on this image.

The backing papers I have used are from the Debbi Moore Shabby Chic Time Flies CD.  The sentiments, clocks and wings are all from a Visible Image stamp sheet called "Time after Time" and I have inked with a blue Versafine ink pad and cut them out.  I have used a Tim Holtz clock die and clock embossing folder and edged with Tim Holtz's Aged Mahogony distress ink.  I have finished the card off with a brad and some card candi.

Bearly Mine Inspiration and Challenge Blog - Monthly Inspiration by Kym - February 2014

In case you didn't know the Bearly Mine Challenge has moved from a fortnightly challenge to a monthly challenge.  

In between that time every two days you will get to see an inspirational project from a member of the Bearly Mine Design Team.

Today it is my turn to show you an inspirational project for the Bearly Mine Inspiration and Challenge Blog.

For my card I decided to make a card suitable for a teenage boy/young adult as they can be so hard to make cards for.  The image I have used is from the "Edward is Immortal" set by Visible Image.

The backing papers I have used are both from the Bearly Mine Designs Steampunk Fantasy 2 set.  These are perfect for steampunk/vintage style cards but I thought also perfect for those difficult male cards.

I have coloured the image in with Graph'it pens and fussy cut around him.  It's a bit fiddly but well worth the effort.  I have made a chain pattern on the card with some real chain held together with some brads.  The card has been finished off with some X-cut die-cut cogs with black Versamagic rubbed around the edge to distress, die-cut buttons, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and a little pocket watch stamp in blue Versafine and fussy cut (this pocket watch is from another set of Visible Image stamps called "Time after Time".

Jake Skates - Version 2

I recently made a card using the "Jake Skates" stamp set by Visible Image.  It's here if you want to have a look.  I make my cards to sell solely to raise funds for different charities and have lots and lots of images suitable for girls/ladies but do struggle for boys/men so that is why I was delighted when I caught sight of Visible Image stamps before I went to the NEC last November.  Yes they do lots and lots of other stamps including sentiments, images suitable for girls/ladies, backgrounds, flowers etc.  I shall keep my fingers crossed some more boy/men images come out this year.  They are fantastic quality and for the Jake Skates stamp set it is £11.99 and you get the main image and 5 other stamps (well really it's 6 - as you'll see around the stamped image of Jake there is like a distressed edge.  If you then look at the backing paper with "awesome dude" on it it's got like a dotty edge.  It's the same stamp but just different sides).

 Better stop waffling and get onto my card.  I have coloured my image in with just two green Graph'it pens for the whole green areas (8240 and 8260).  I have used one of the Visible Image stamps around the edge of the image with a green Versafine ink pad.  

The backing papers are a male set from the Paper Cellar and on the blue/green paper I have used the "awesome dude" stamp around the edge along with the dotty edge of the stamp mentioned above.  On the piece of cream card I have stamped all over with the skateboard stamp and used the distress edge stamp to frame it all.  I have stuck Jake onto paper that I have torn to create the illusion of areas for Jake to skate up-and-down on.

I have finished the card off with some cut out stars from a paper from a Debbi Moore magazine, twine with knots added to it and some Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiments.

Kenny K Challenge - 2 February 2014

 Over at the Kenny K Challenge this fortnight the topic is "love".  For my card I have used the Kenny K image called "Playboy".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers keeping the colour scheme to red, white and blue.

The backing papers I have used are from Summertime Designs.  I have used a "love" stamp and splodge effect stamp by Visible Image.  They come on a set with a main image and other smaller stamps called "Isabella Lost Love".

Here is the inside of the card decorated like the front.  I always decorate the inside as I feel it finishes the card off.

I have finished the card off simply with some gingham ribbon and some punched out hearts.

Jake Skates

Here is a boy card that I have made using my "Jake Skates" Stamp set from Visible Image.  It's amazing value at £11.99 as you get the main image of Jake skating and various other stamps including 3 stars, a large star, mesh/distressed stamp, sentiment saying "awesome dude!" and a skateboard.

I have coloured my image in with my Promarkers.  They are feeling slightly unloved at the moment since I got some Graph'it pens so thought they could come out to play.  The backing papers are from a Wellington paper pack that I got in a sale.  I have stamped the star stamp over the edge of the striped backing paper, stamped the mesh/distressed stamp around the image and then used the star stamp on some chipboard corners that I coloured with the same blue Promarkers and then added Versamark and added two layers or embossing powder for some shine.  I have kept the embellishments to a minimum on the card and just added the ribbon, sentiment off the stamp sheet, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and the decorated corners.
