Bearly Mine Challenge - 31 July 2012 - Anything goes

Today sees the start of another challenge over at Bearly Mine Challenges.  This time the challenge is "anything goes".
This week we are being sponsored by "I am Roses.com" and they are providing the lucky winner with a $35 gift voucher - isn't that wonderful????
For my card I have used the Bearly Mine Designs "The Boys Zone" backing papers as I wanted to go with a blue and kraft colour scheme.
I have used a Crafts and Me digital image called by "Lady of Opal" by Sara Burrier.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers, die-cut the image and edged with a chalk ink pad.  I have cut the various papers into various diffierent shapes to add some dimension.  The card has been finished off with some Joy Craft die-cut butterflies, Bearly Mine Designs spotted flowers, gems, Stickles glitter glue, ribbon, faux stitching and a Craftwork Cards sentiment.

Please accept my apologies for not visiting you all.  I haven't made any cards in the last 4 weeks as I am not that well and have supports on both hands as it is thought I might have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome on top of everything else.  Thankfully I always get well ahead with DT work so I have many weeks to go before I've run out of things I've made.  I've had some commissioned cards I've had to turn down and I've also not been able to make special cards for family but what can you do if your hands don't even want to open to use scissors???

Birthday Card for my Husband

I haven't been able to make cards for some weeks now.  This is the only card I've made and it was for my husband's birthday last Friday - yes Friday 13th!!!
He likes playing snooker so I thought my Debbi Moore Sports Bears CD would be perfect.  I have used some decoupage image, designs sheets, tags, and backing papers.  Yes the card is very very weighty but I didn't have to post it so it didn't worry me.
I took a snapshot of the snooker bear and took into Word so I could do the insert for the card.
The card has been finished off with a sentiment off the computer and card candi to resemble snooker balls.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Top Tip Tuesday - One for the boys
Scrap Creations - Use something bought in the last 2 months - my Debbi Moore Sports Bears CD

Commissioned Birthday Card

This is a commissioned card and matching box I made recently for one of my customers.
I used my Debbi Moore My Fair Lady CD along with papers/decoupage from the Debbi Moore magazine I subscribe to as well which featured some My Fair Lady designs recently.
I have used various decoupage image and design sheets from the CD.  The card has been finished off with glitter, gems, pearls, card candi, handmade flowers, ribbon and sentiment off the computer.

Crafty Ann's Challenge #69 - Paper piecing

It's time for another challenge over at Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog.  This time we are being challenged to "paper piecing".
For my card I used Crafty Ann's digital image of roses with a large bow.  I printed the image out once on some white card.  I then printed it again onto some of Crafty Ann's red Funky Collection Backing Paper (no 3) and some blue Polished Stone Backing Paper and cut out the flowers and bow.  The leaves have been coloured with promarkers.  I used the same Funky backing paper as a mount along with a green Polished Stone backing paper.  On the Funky backing paper I digitally added some of the little wired flowers from the Cream Dream Digital Scrapbook Kit.  The centres of the flowers have some acrylic paint added to the centres and the card has been finished off with a matching insert and a Craftwork Cards sentiment.

Birthday Card

I recently won a challenge and got to pick some Pink Gem Designs images.  I decided to pick some images that I could use for cards but also for a scrapbook I hope to make later this year.  Why you ask?  My husband is off in a few weeks to London to help out at the Olympics for three weeks.  It will be hard at home with me not well but it's a chance in a lifetime so I have encouraged him to take it.

The backing papers I have used for my card are red Mini Dots from Bearly Mine Designs and the blue is a distressed paper from The Boys Zone from Bearly Mine Designs.  I have done some matting and layering and distressed the large blue paper with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and highlighted the edges with a chalk ink pad.

For the front of the card I have decoupaged the little bear up three layers.  He's called Patriotic Teddy.  The British postcard I decided to make smaller so I could use as a corner embellishment.  I have used my new Papermania Portobello bus stamp and stamped direct onto red card.  I have made a banner with some leftover blue and red dot paper and some blue twine.  I have finished off the front of the card with a peel-off sentiment and written the word "dad" on the front - yikes I do hate my writing but I hadn't got a stamp or peel-off small enough or the right colour.
This is the inside of the card.  I've used a similar layout apart from I've layered up a teddy bear in the left hand corner and taken down the opacity of the main bear so that is where a message can be written.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

For my card I have used a pre-coloured image called Fairy Emma.  I just love her mannerism.  I decided to make a summertime feel card - even though it doesn't really feel like summer here in the UK!!!  I have die-cut the image and used a chalk ink pad around the edge.  The backing papers are all from Bearly Mine Designs and are Gingham, Summer's Lace Dreams, Roses Dreams and spotted flowers.

I have matted and layered the papers but not without using my Tim Holtz distressing tool on them and used some green pan Pastel and then finally edged with a chalk ink pad.

I have finished the card off with a ribbon bow, Craftwork Cards sentiments (which I coloured green with a Promarker to match the backing papers), glitter flowery corner stickers. two sparkly gem green brads, Marianne Designs Creatables die-cut butterflies with chalk ink to highlight the embossing. Bearly Mine Designs spotted flowers all cut out with inked edges and card candi centres, two different ribbons, buckle and some tear drop stick pins with beads attached to the stems.
