Ching-Chou Kuik - Where we met

Here is a Christmas card I have made using a Sweet Pea Stamps image by Ching-Chou Kuik called "where we met".  It is available as a digital stamp, single rubber stamp and as part of a multi-image plate (Sheet 42, Plate 203 - Where we met comes on the multi-image plate with Late Autumn, Little Bow and Wild Royalty).

I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and edged around the image with a light blue Pan Pastel whilst I kept my die in place.  I then used my new Wink of Stella clear glitter pen to add some sparkle.  I love the effect my Sakura Stardust clear pen gives but on bigger surface areas I'd get scratch marks even if I used in circular motions.  The Wink of Stella is a fine brush and doesn't do that.

The backing papers aren't Christmas ones.  They area scraps leftover from previous cards from my two year old Tim Holtz paper pad.  I have inked around the edges of the papers/image with Tim Holtz's Gathered Twigs distress ink pad.  I have finished the card off with some die-cut holly and a little deer which I have rubbed over Imagination Crafts Diamond Sparkle Medium, satin ribbon, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment, organza ribbon, button and Card Candi.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The Crafter's Cafe - Die-cuts and/or punches

Sweet Pea Stamps - One Sweet Challenge

Don't forget there is still time to join in September's Challenge over at "One Sweet Challenge"!

The challenge topic for September was "brown, yellow, orange and red" ie fall colours.

To give you some inspiration this is the card I made to promote this challenge:

If you want to look at my original post for this card you can find it here.

Aud Sentiments Challenge - Thursday 26 September 2013 - Any sentiment for a child

It is Thursday and therefore the start of another challenge over at the Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog.  This fortnight the topic is "any sentiment for a child".
The sponsor this fortnight is Beccy's Place and she is offering the winner a choice of 3 images.
I decided to make not one but two cards - well I couldn't have a boy version without a girl version could I?  For my cards I have used the Beccy's Place image called "Quilted Five and Monkey" - I just thought he was a fun character for a little child.  I have coloured both images in with Promarkers/Flexmarkers.  The pink card I have added Glossy Accents to the No 5 which turned out a right nightmare for the camera flash!
For both cards I have used some Papermania birthday papers which I won in some candy last year.  I am a bit concerned when I make cards for children that all tiny items are well hidden on the cards ie stuck onto the matting and layering rather than on top.  The little boy card has been finished off with some gingham ribbon, peel-off stars, brads and a Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment.  The little girl card has been finished off with some pink fibres, brads and a Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment.

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:

Inspire me Friday - Anything goes
Totally Papercrafts - Happy birthday baby
Crafts 4 Eternity - Cute kids

Joanne Schempp - Seahorse Serenade

Over at Sweet Pea Stamps this week the "Artist of the Week" is Joanne Schempp.  My card was shown yesterday but I thought I'd show another card today I've made with a Joanne Schempp image.
For this card I have used the Sweet Pea Stamps image by Joanne Schempp called "Seahorse Serenade".  It is available as a digital stamp (and for this week to celebrate the Artist of the Week Joanne's digital stamps are $2.70 instead of $3.00), single rubber stamp and as part of a multi-image plate (Sheet 10, Plate 178 - Seahorse Serenade comes on the multi-image plate with Shh Mommies Here, Fluff Dry and Erin Irish Mermaid).

I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers/Flexmarkers and then took the lid off my Glossy Accents and used a brush to go over the water area in the image.

The backing papers I have used are from Bearly Mine Designs Spring Surprise, Simply Dots and The Boys Zone (I have used the Boys Zone backing paper to punch out the border for the centre of the card).

The seahorse embellishment is a new thing for me.  Whilst we were away on holiday a friend bought some air drying clay and gave to me to play with.  I got a fimo mould and used it to make this seahorse.  He's rather large at 6cm long so will have to keep a look-out for some smaller ones.  The feel of the clay was awful for someone who doesn't do messy/things like that!!  With the weather we've had it's taken 2 days to dry but I love it.  I didn't have the right colour Pan Pastel and gave the basic cover with a very light pink Pan Pastel and had to use a normal shimmer chalk to add some shadowing.  It certainly didn't cover as well as the Pan Pastel so I must get a good colour so I can use them in future.

I have finished the card off with a die-cut sentiments and some gems.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Inspire me Friday - Anything goes
Polkadoodles - Candy colours (I've gone for the blue and pink sweets found in Allsorts called possible jelly buttons/sprogs)
Totally Papercrafts - Happy birthday baby
Pan Pastel - Anything goes

Creative Inspirations - Your favourite stamp brand - my favourite stamp brand has to be Sweet Pea Stamps
Simon Says - Anything goes
Crafting by Designs - Anything goes
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
The Crafter's Cafe - Die-cuts and/or punches (I have used a Martha Stewart lattice punch)

I have coloured the digital stamp in with Promarkers/Flexmarkers, highlighted areas with a white gel pen and inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint and Pine Needles distress inks.

Sweet Pea Stamps

This week over at Sweet Pea Stamps sees Joanne Schempp as our "Artist of the Week".

Throughout the week you will see the Design Team show you their Joanne Schempp creations on the Sweet Pea Stamps Blog.  Make sure you pop on over and have a look.  My card goes "live" just after midnight.

During this Joanne Schempp's images are on special offer:

If you are also looking for a bargain - and who doesn't - make sure you pop on over to the SALE SECTION at Sweet Pea Stamps.

17th Birthday Card

Today sees my youngest son celebrating his 17th birthday - yikes I am now a mum to a 17 year old and a 21 year old and I am not even 44!!!
The word on the front spells the word "basketball" and I have added suitable items for each letter - not that my son will think so!!  This took me hours and hours to do.
Our youngest son has a passion for basketball and his favourite team is the Indiana Pacers.  I'm not sure where his love of basketball came from as it's not very common over here in the UK.
I have made a multi-fold card - not sure what you would call it apart from "a nightmare to photograph!!" - to show off the images of the Indiana Pacers Basketball Team.
The basketball backing paper I have used is from the Debbi Moore Designs Sports Bears CD.
All the number 17's have been done in Word, cut out, inked around the edges before putting them on.  That certainly was a labour of love.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Top Tip Tuesday - Get in shape
Ruby's Rainbow - Team spirit
The Paper Shelter - A card with many folds
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
Whimsy Stamps - Masculine
Inspire me Friday - Anything goes

When you pop on over you'll see this other newbie that is in the shop now called "Halloweenie - Ghostie".

Joanna Sheen Challenge - Guest Designer

I was lucky enough recently to win a Guest Designer at the Joanna Sheen Challenge.  The topic for the Joanna Sheen Challenge this time is "coffee and cream".
Here is the card I have made.  I have used some Joanna Sheen TC Chiu Decoupage that I won in some candy.  The backing papers are a mixture and are from Joanna Sheen's Haberdashery papers and the Joanna Sheen Furry Friends CD-Rom.  I always go back to this CD when I want specific colour papers.  It's nice to have backing papers alongside an image/topper but it's also nice to have a section for backing papers so you can look in one place for them.  I have distressed all the papers and embellishments I have used with Tim Holtz's Brushed Corduroy distress ink.  I have finished the card off with a selection of buttons/lace/sentiment that all came on the haberdashery backing paper sheet, cream flowers which I have distressed with the Brushed Corduroy distress ink, real lace, pearls and some dotty ribbon.

Thank you to Joanna Sheen's Challenge for having me as their Guest Designer.
