Colemans Warehouse - October 2008

I had a lovely time today seeing Joanna Sheen, her husband Richard, Paul Church, Claire from Crafter's Companion, a lady demoing with two members of staff from Helix and also seeing some of my Sheenies (members of Joanna Sheen's Forum) eg Jo, Ann, Sheila and Doreen.

The event was raising money for a Breast Cancer charity and you paid £1 to enter a card competition. I made a card on Wednesday only for a friend to tell me on Thursday that it was a Christmas competition and I had used some wild animals from the Jayne Netley Mayhew CD. I was so annoyed at myself but thought I had to make another card to lend my support to this charity work. Here is my card. It wasn't my best attempt as my eyes started playing up but any money raised for such a worthwhile charity is certainly worth helping.

Charity Stall - October 2008

Well another month is upon me and it was time last Friday to set up the stall. Only two more stalls to go for this year and then I've completed two years of regularly going there. I've now got dates booked in for 2009 so I am organised.
It's now Friday and the stall has been set down and it has made a grand total of £2.50 for the whole week. I feel devastated especially as half the money this time is going to the MS Society ie only £1.25.

Commissioned Card for a Friend of my Mum

My mum asked if I could make a card for a friend of hers. Her grandson has various illnesses which means he can't walk and gets around by sliding around on his bottom. He will need specialist care for the whole of his life. Someone she knows has kindly given up his time to organise a charity ball for the boy and the grandmother wanted a special card to say thank you from her grandson. I used Joanna Sheen's Jayne Netley Mayhew CD and picked the little tiger cub and baby elephant. It then took me over an hour to write the words as I was no good at poetry at school. My Mum called last night to say the card brought tears to the lady's eyes and she thought the card was wonderful.

Commissioned Card for a Nephew

I was asked to make a card for a friend's brother's nephew. He really hasn't got much chance for hobbies as he works in the military but I didn't fancy another military card so I questioned some more and was told that he often goes fishing so I used Joanna Sheen's Jayne Netley Mayhew CD to make this card.

Commissioned Card for a Niece

I was asked to make a card for a friend's brother's niece - that's a mouthful - and she is into Great Danes like the rest of the family. Sadly my eyes aren't too good and I made a number of mistakes I had to rectify before I eventually finished the card.

Card to say Thank You for Bingo

A friend bought me another Keel dog for my birthday. He was one that didn't come with a name so it took me some days to name him. The lady that bought him, her partner, her brother, my husband and myself all went out to bingo on the Saturday night - this was the first time I'd been out in the evening for over 3 years - so my new dog got the name BINGO. My friend was THRILLED with her card.

Edna's blog candy

Edna's First Anniversary and Edna's Blog Candy

I often go and look on Edna's blog to see what creations she has made. I can't believe she's nearly been blogging a year now and because of this special event she's offering a £20 Joanna Sheen voucher which is so kind of her. Keep up the excellent work Edna.

Commissioned Card for my Mum

It was my brother-in-law's birthday and my Mum asked if I could make a card for him. As he loves cars I made this card using My Craft Studio and even gave the car his name as a numberplate which he thought was very good.

Commissioned Card for a Very Special Son

I was asked to make a special card for a lady whose son serves in the Army in America. He's previously had two cards off me, one birthday with a military bear and one for his graduation in the summer and he had a military bear with his graduation cap on. I used a Green Lane CD for the pyromage, Dominoe's Designs for the camouflage background, My Craft Studio to make the insert and finally there was a gap just where another military bear could go so I used Robert Addam's Teddy CD for this. The lady said her son will LOVE the card and it will be framed for his office at work like the other two!!!

Commissioned Card for a Very Special Daughter

I was asked by a lady to make a card for her daughter who lives in Australia who is into Great Danes. I decided to make a Michelle Marsden Red Hot Bed star card which turn out a little difficult to photograph. I also did Michelle's card on a card idea on the front and on the back of the book so at least on the back of the book I managed to get a verse in. For this I used My Craft Studio as the insert had to be very small and I had to keep readjusting the text size so (a) it could fit and (b) it was actually readible without the use of a magnifying glass!!! Needless to say the star card was so graciously received and will be on its way to Australia this week.
