Favourite Five Creations of 2013

After challenging us to our "five favourite Christmas creations" Debby over at A Scrap Journey is challenging us to choose our "favourite five creations for 2013".  It's certainly been a hard task.

I have religiously stuck to the five.  Here is what I have picked:
My first card picked was for a very special friend's birthday last January.  She's good at needlework so I thought this Sweet Pea Stamps image was perfect.

I love poppies so this card made using a Stamp Addicts poppy image is definitely going to be a favourite.
My mum died suddenly in June 2011 and it's not been easy making Mother's Day cards as part of Design Teams but she would have loved this one using a Delicious Doodles image as it has her favourite colour green in it.
I so wish to live by the sea so this card has to be a favourite using a Sweet Pea Stamps image by Melissa Dawn.
This card is using stamps from a company I have come across in 2013.  Lots of companies tailor most of their images to females but as I have two sons I have always struggled for male images.  Visible Image have various sets for Males (and lots for females I hasten to add!) and I was so pleased how this card turned out.

Well that is my 5 and only 5!!!  Certainly not an easy task.  Good job it only happens once a year Debby!!

Karen Middleton - New Year Mouse

Here is the first card I have made since my operation.  I was hoping that 10 days post surgery I'd be in less pain now and have more movement.  Maybe I wanting it to be better too soon.  I am off to see the Physio on 3 January 2014, back to see the Consultant on 8 January 2014 and then I start some private physio sessions on 10 January 2014 as it is a 60 mile round trip to the hospital where I had my surgery and my husband needs to take time off work to take me whereas the local one I can get a taxi to.

Onto my card.  No laughing with my colouring.  It's the best I can do at the moment.  I also did a colour scheme I steer clear of normally or yellow and orange.  Not sure why I don't like using these colours.

The image I have used is from Sweet Pea Stamps and is by the artist Karen Middleton.  It is called "New Year Mouse" and is available as a digital stamp.  I think this image could be used for other occasions than just for New Year ie birthdays, anniversaries etc.

I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens.  Maybe using the colour scheme of yellow and orange was excuse to try out two of my new yellow Graph'it pens I got for Christmas.

The backing papers are from my stash.  On the bottom paper I have embossed it using a clock mask and then inked with Tim Holtz's Rusty Hinge distress ink.  I have used a Visible Image clock stamp around the image.  The card has been finished off with some fibres, peel-off sentiment and some flowers punched out of the left-over backing papers.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Crafts 4 Eternity - Something new - New Year
Chocolate, Coffee and Cards - New beginnings
Digi Choosday - Anything goes

Helena Reis - I Put a Spell on You

Here is a card I have made using an image from one of the newer designers to join Sweet Pea Stamps, Helena Reis.  I fell in love with this image and also the shape of the image.  It is called "I put a spell on you" and it is available as a digital stamp and single rubber stamp.

I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens.  I have fallen in love with the reds I got.  They seem to have so much more colour than my Promarkers.

The backing papers I have used are from Bearly Mine Designs.  I have used Christmas Traditions, Damask Delight and Just Plaids.  I have finished the card off with some raffia ribbon, gems, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiments and tissue paper flowers with brad centres.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Valerie Wade - Christmas Angel

Sunday is here and Christmas is over with for yet another year.  I hope you all had a good time celebrating with your friends and family.  It is time for me to show you some Sweet Pea Stamps creations.

Here is another ornament.  I have made it for a friend to put on their tree.  I have used Valerie Wade's digital stamp but she is also available as a single rubber stamp and is called "Christmas Angel".  Isn't she a beauty??  I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens and highlighted her wings with my clear Wink of Stella pen.
I have covered an MDF tree with gesso and then a green acrylic paint.  I have then used an Aged Beautifully stamp by Sheena Douglass to add some dimension to the tree.  I have then added decorative bells, gems, pearls, glitter scrolls and twine to the tree.  This is an ornament that can come out year after year.

I am entering this ornament into the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe's Challenge - Wings
Crafty Blogger's Network - Girly
Parade Your Crafts - Christmas/winter projects

Delicious Doodles Challenge - Friday 20 December 2013 - A White Christmas

It is time for the last challenge of 2013 for Team B over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.

If you want to take part the topic of the challenge this week is "A White Christmas".
For my Christmas card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "On a Winter's Day".  It is a stunning and very detailed image by Teri so I have to just highlighted a few areas with Promarkers.
I have added some Polar White Flowersoft for snow and added some Imagination Crafts Diamond Sparkle Medium for lots of sparkle and shine.

I decided I would make a white-on-white card with just the image coloured so I have done a lot of embossing/die-cutting shapes/flowers, all from the same card stock that I used for the card blank.  All areas have been edged with the Imagination Crafts Diamond Sparkle Medium.  I have finished the card off with some buttons, card candi, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment, seam binding ribbon bow and pearl embellishment.
