Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge - Friday 30 August 2013 - Team A - Fantasy

Friday has whizzed around again and it is time for another challenge over at the Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge Blog.  This fortnight the topic is "fantasy" so this means fairies, mermaids, pixies, witches etc,
For my card I have used the Sweet Pea Stamps image by Elaine Cox called Elinora.  She is available as a digital stamp, single rubber stamp and a multi-image plate (Sheet 19, Plate 164 - and this image called Elinora is available on the same sheet with Blue Poppies, Moonstones Mermaid and Pinkie).  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with my Pan Pastels.  The backing papers are all from my stash.  I have finished the card off with some lace, ribbon, die-cut shells with Pan Pastels rubbed over the embossing, Stickles glitter glue, flowers made from die-cuts from a book and inked with Tim Holtz's Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Crushed Olive distress inks, brads and Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment.

Delicious Doodles Challenge - Friday 30 August 2013 - Anything Floral

Today is the last Friday in August and sees the last challenge where Team A and Team B have joined together as a number of Design Team members have taken time off for the summer holidays.  The challenge this week is "anything floral".
For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles imaged called "Remembrance".  I have also used a freebie poppies paper that Teri put on the Delicious Doodles Shop in November 2012.  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers.  I have used an embossing folder to add a bit of dimension.  Instead of rubbing the ink pad on the embossing folder before putting it through my machine I decided to try adding the ink with my Inkylicious brushes.  I love the more subtle effect this gives and will certainly use it again.  I used Tim Holtz's Peeled Paint distress ink pad.  I have cut out some of the poppies from another piece of paper to use as embellishments - but of course had to ink around the edge of all the poppy embellishments as I hate to see white edges.  The card has then just been finished off with some satin edged organza ribbon.

Aud Sentiments Challenge - Thursday 29 August 2013 - Any sentiment you want

Today sees the start of another challenge over at the Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog.  This fortnight the challenge is "any sentiment you want".
This fortnight our sponsor is Prairie Fairy.  Here is a bit about Prairie Fairy:

"I am a small town girl with a passion for all things creative.
I have been a creator since childhood, doodling like crazy, building forts and climbing trees. I have always loved anything magical and sparkly, though oddly enough I don't sparkle myself up much! Through the years I have tried my hand at many things. I have always believed that if I really wanted to do something, I could or I would figure out how to. Can't is not really a word in my vocabulary. My favourite saying is "I am willing to try anything at least once, though sometimes I am sorry I tried it!" I love teaching and sharing what I have learned along the way. I resisted the computer for years until a friend introduced me to blogging. Not long after digital stamping started to make a splash in blog land and I jumped on the boat. I spent a good year learning all about everything digital and now here I am."

For my card I have used the Prairie Fairy image called "Poppies".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers.  I have inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Pine Needles and Black Soot distress inks.  The backing papers I have used are freebies from Summertime Designs.  I keep my sympathy/thinking of you/remember/Remembrance Sunday cards very simple as I don't think it's the right time/place to go "over the top" with embellishments.  I have simply finished the card off with some ribbon, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and pearls.

Sweet Pea Stamps - Artist of the Week - Norma J Burnell

Over at Sweet Pea Stamps it is "Artist of the Week".  This will take place one week over the month and a specific artist will be the "artist of the week" so all the Design Team members will make cards/creations using this designer's creations.  There is also a bonus for customers.  During this one week ONLY and for this artist ONLY there will be 15% off this artist's images.  That's brilliant isn't it?  Make sure you pop on over to the shop and have a look at Norma J Burnell's rubber stamps - they are all gorgeous.
There are too many beautiful images of Norma's to choose from but I have used the rubber stamp called "Sapphire".  She's a gorgeous lady along with her beautiful bird.  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with my white gel pen.  I have inked around the image with Tim Holtz's Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Faded Jeans distress inks.
The backing papers I have used are from Summertime Designs and I have edged them all with my Henna Promarker.  I have made some flowers out of the papers using a Spellbinders die, scrunched them up, inked around with my Faded Jeans distress ink and held them together with buttons.  I have finished the card off with some ribbon, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and pearls.

It's Friday and it is time for another challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  This week the topic is "birds of a feather".
For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Raven Goddess" and I have coloured her in with Promarkers/Flexmarkers.  I am trying different colour ways with hair - this week I have gone for shades of auburn/red.  What will it be next time?  I just wish it was just that simple to change our own hair colour!!!  The backing papers and flowers are from a My Craft Studio Click-Print-Go CD.  I have cut out all the flowers and leaves and inked all the edges and held the flowers together with yellow brads.  I have used Spellbinders dies to cut the images and the other two layers underneath it.  I have finished the card off with a Memory Box bird cage die-cut, a Marianne Designs little bird die-cut, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment, faux stitching and some pearls.

Sweet Pea Stamps Scrapbook - First Three Pages

I am making a little scrapbook for someone of Sweet Pea Stamp for them to keep and look at.  The album is about 15cm x 15cm so the pages themselves are 14cm x 14cm so quite a nice size to work with.
Here is my first page.  I have used the Ching-Chou Kuik image called "Here and Forever".  This image is available as a digital stamp, single rubber stamp and a multi-image sheet (Sheet 52, Plate 247 - Here and Forever comes on the sheet with Heaven and Earth, Misty Allure and Autumn Tenderness).  I have coloured the image in with promarkers, highlighted areas with my Pan Pastels and white gel pen.  The backing papers are some from K&Co which I've had for some years now.  On this page and one below I've finished the pad.  Will need to keep my eye out for some more.  As it's a scrapbook page I need to keep the embellishments to a minimum so I have used a Spellbinders Grande die-cut which I have inked with a chalk ink pad, faux stitching, seam binding ribbon, flowers with brad centres and Papermania Glitterations.
For my second page I have used a Melissa Dawn stamp called "Shiver Meow Timbers" and I have teamed it up with a Teresa Sherman Treasure Map (this treasure map comes on a multi-image plate along with an image like Captain Hook - Sheet 8, Plate 217).  I have coloured the map with Pan pastels, cut around it, tore the map in half and then inked around the edge.  The cat image I have coloured in with Promarkers and Pan Pastels.  The backing papers I have used this time I was given.  I have finished this page with some coins and a string knot.
For my third page I have used another Ching-Chou Kuik image.  This time it is "Spring Nocturne".  This image is available as a digital stamp, single rubber stamp and as part of a multi-image sheet (Sheet 50, Plate 238 - Spring Nocturne comes on the sheet with Purple Immersion, Starlight Magic and Owl Territory).  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers, inked around with Tim Holtz's Tumbled Glass, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade distress ink.  I have then stamped around the image using these same three colours and some See D's stamps.  The backing papers used are the scraps leftover from the first page and are from K&co.  I have finished the card off with some seam binding and little sunflowers cut out from some scraps of the paper which I've highlighted with Glossy Accents.

I am entering this pages into the following challenges:

Craft Your Passion - Don't get your twine in a tangle
Whoopsi Daisy - Show us your stitching (first page)

Jo Channon's Craft Shop, Tattershall, Lincolnshire

Last week-end my husband took me to Wainfleet for two nights away.  A few nights before I saw on Sheena Douglass' blog that she'd been to the opening of Jo Channon's new shop in Tattershall, Lincolnshire.  That was it - I knew it couldn't be too far from Wainfleet so there I was looking on Google Maps and found it was about 20 miles away.  So I asked my husband if we could visit on the Saturday morning and guess what - he said "yes".
Here's a picture of me stood outside Jo's shop called "Let's Create".  I did manage a quick hello with Jo but she was taking a workshop so I was left in the very capable hands of Mark, Jo's husband.

If you are ever in the area it is a lovely shop to visit.  Both Jo and Mark were so friendly and welcoming and there are lots and lots of crafting goodies for us crafters to get our hands on.  I just wish I lived closes to do a workshop with Jo.

If you need to know the address for the shop is as follows:

10 Market Place
Tattershall
Lincoln
LN4 4LQ
(house on the corner of the market place with ivy up the walls)

The opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday 9.30am to 5.00pm, Wednesday 1.00pm to 8.30pm. The shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Sweet Pea Stamps

Sweet Pea Stamps will be closed for the shipping of rubber stamps from 12 August 2013 to 25 August 2013.
Any orders placed for rubber stamps whilst the shop is closed will await its re-opening.  Please bear in mind there could be a few delays in processing.

If you are desperate for your Sweet Pea Stamps fix digital stamps WILL be available during this period.  There are lots and lots to choose from.

Onto some very good news.

A new artist has joined Sweet Pea Stamps.  The artist is called Regan Kubecek.  I had to admit that I hadn't heard of Regan and had to go and look at her Facebook page.  She's another amazing artist to join Sweet Pea Stamps.
Her images are available as rubber stamps and digital stamps.  Above is Trixie.  Isn't she adorable?  Here is a link to Regan's rubber stamps and digital stamps.

Make sure you pop on over to the Sweet Pea Stamps Shop and have a look at the digital stamps and rubber stamps.  There are soooooooooooo many to choose from.

Melissa Dawn - Sailor Boy

Here is a little creation I have made using a Sweet Pea Stamps image by Melissa Dawn.  This little cutie is called "Sailor Boy" and is available as a single rubber stamp or as part of a multi-image plate (Sheet 3, Plate 190 - Sailor Boy comes on a sheet with Halloween Kitty, Pumpkin Cat Magic and Shiver Meow Timbers).

I have coloured this cute character in with my Promarkers.  I have laid him in on oval die-cut that I have inked with Tim Holtz's Chipped Sapphire distress ink and then used my Tim Holtz's distressing tool around the edge.  The backing paper is from my Crafty Individuals seaside collection (think I need to keep a look-out for some more of these papers that a friend brought me as they are so nice).  I have used a Marianne's Designs lighthouse and used my Pan Pastels through to highlight areas and used my Marianne Designs shells and coloured them also with my Pan Pastels.  All the papers/card I have used have been inked with the Chipped Sapphire and some have had my distressing tool treatment to them.

I am entering this creation into the following challenges:

The Crafter's Cafe - At the beach

Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge - Friday 16 August 2013 - Tear it to pieces

It is time for another challenge over at the Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge Blog.  The topic this fortnight is "tear it to pieces" ie torn edges.  It is time for Team B to show you their cards/creations.
Although I am in Team A I decided to make a card for this challenge as I like tearing.  I have used the Sweet Pea Stamps image by Ching-Chou Kuik called Scarlett Holly.  She is available as a digital image, a single rubber stamp and on a plate of 4 images (Sheet 51, Plate 243 - the images on this sheet along with Scarlett Holly are Little Green, Frost Twinkle and Red Rose).  I have coloured my image in with Promarkers and highlighted areas with my Pan Pastels.  I have torn around the edge of the image and accentuated the torn edge with a green chalk ink pad.

The backing papers I have used area Bearly Mine Designs Christmas Traditions and Simply Dots.  These papers I have torn the edges of along with the mount for the image.  I also got a piece of plain white card and stamped with some Artylicious Christmas stamps and then inked the edges with the same green chalk ink pad.  I have finished the card off with some ribbon, Marianne Designs die-cut holly, stamped sentiment and some card candi.  I have kept this card relatively flat as it is costing so much more for posting cards.

Friday is here again and it is time for another challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  Some of the Design Team are taking a break during the summer so Team A Team B are merging throughout the summer.  This week the challenge is "Christmas in August".
Teri over at Delicious Doodles will be very surprised when she sees my card for this week as she knows I don't normally "do" the darker images/scarier images.  For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles Pile o' Bones Backing Paper and Skully Xmas Wreath.  I used My Craft Studio to insert the image on top of the backing paper and added some ribbon embellishments.  The wreath I have coloured in with my Promarkers using surprisingly four greys for the skulls and three browns for the bones.  The backing paper is sat on a piece of card I stamped with Tim Holtz's Black Soot and Fired Brick distress ink pad using one of my Sheena Douglass stamps from the A Little Bit Sketchy Range called "Aged Beautifully".  I have typed the sentiment on the computer and cut out with dies.  I have finished the card off with some black gems, spotty ribbon.

Aud sentiments Challenge - Thursday 15 August 2013 - Anything but a birthday card plus a sentiment

It is Thursday again and it is time for another challenge over at the Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog.  This fortnight the challenge is "anything but a card - plus a sentiment".

This fortnight the Aud Sentiments Challenge is sponsored by StampArt Design by Kathryne.

Here is a message from Kathryne:

Hello stamping friends! Thank you for welcoming me into your home and hearts. My desire is to inspire hope and joy, with celebrations of love and inspiration at the heart of each drawing for you. I am delighted to sponsor your challenge and I look forward to hearing from you.

The winner of this challenge will receive 5 free digital images of their choice from the StampArt Design catalogue at Whimsy Stamps.
I decided to use the StampArt Design imaged called "Autumn Friends" and decided to make two Halloween tags.  We don't go into Halloween much here in the UK but I like to play and have a bit of fun with images like this so whatever I make I always give away to people who come knocking at the door.
I have coloured both images in with Promarkers and inked around the edges with my Inkylicious brushes and Tim Holtz's Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot distress inks.  I used the same inks on the Inkylicious card which I cut into the shape of tag.  Cor the ink doesn't half squeak when you rub it onto the card.  I thought I had a host of mice in the house!!!
The backing papers I have used are from the Bearly Mine Designs Halloween Hauntings digi set.  I have inked around the paper with Black Soot distress ink.

The first tag has been embellished with a sentiment off the computer, some spider ribbon, mesh fabric, pumpkin charm, paper flower with markings add with a black Promarker, brad and fibres through the top of the tag.

The second tag has been embellished with a spider's web (this is off one of the Bearly Mine Halloween Hauntings papers and I have cut out and edged with Black Soot distress ink), white mesh ribbon, sentiment off the computer, fibres and some buttons with threads tied through the middle.

I am entering these tags into the following challenges:

Card Mania - Your favourite embellishment - ribbon
Inspire me Friday - Anything goes
Brown Sugar Challenge - Anything goes
2 Sisters - Favourite embellishment - ribbon
Robyn's Fetish - Lots of layers

Sweet Pea Stamps Variations Week - August 2013

This week is my favourite time on Sweet Pea Stamps.  Before I was on the Design Team I used to long for this week whereby the Design Team would make a card/creation using the same image.  I was always amazed how different the cards were.  Now what amazes me - and I still have to pinch myself at times - is that I am part-and-parcel of this wonderful Design Team so I get to show you my creation I have made.
For our cards/creations this month we had to use the Sweet Pea Stamps image by Karen Middleton called "An apple a day".  It is available as a digital image or as a rubber stamp.  For my card I have used the digital image and made it a little bigger than I normally do.  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers/Flexmarkers and highlighted areas with my Pan Pastels and some Stampendous Fran-tage in Shabby Blue.  I have inked around the edges with a chalk ink pad.  The backing papers I have used are bright pink and lime green and are freebies from Summertime Designs.
Here is a close-up of the image with the Fran-tage.  I still struggle with this stuff blowing off even though I heat from underneath but at least I am getting more staying on the card!!!  I have coloured a chipboard die-cut petal shape with a Rose Bud Memento ink pad.  I then stamped in black Versafine "Happy Birthday" using a freebie stamp and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then used a peg stamp and the same Rose Bud ink pad and stamped around the edge.  I have finished the card off with a Tim Holtz butterfly border die which I have inked with Tim Holtz's Tumbled Glass and Peeled Pain distress ink pads, doilies, gingham ribbon bow, flowers and gems.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

As Your Like It - Favourite ribbon and twine - I like lots of ribbon but one of my favourites has to be gingham as it goes with so many different card designs and this is my last bit of bright pink gingham that I have been "saving" for some time now!!
