Colour Crazy Challenge Blog - Friday 29 May 2020

It is time for another challenge over at the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog.

The weekly topic is always "anything goes".
This week we are lucky to be sponsored by Nikky Hall from Polkadoodles.
For my card I have used the Polkadoodles image called "Helga Hippo - Bring the Cake".  Isn't she a beauty and a fun image to use?  I have coloured Helga with my Promarkers.  I have added Glossy Accents to Helga's eyes and to the cherries on that very yummy looking cake.  I then inked around the edge of the image with a turquoise Versa Magic ink pad.

The backing papers are from The Works.  One of the backing papers I have put through a Crafter's Companion 3D embossing folder and used a gold Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Polish to highlight the embossing.

I have finished my card off with a Sizzix circle die that I got recently in a sale from Cutting Edge Crafts in Skegness, Joanna Sheen die-cut banner and a LOTV digital sentiment stamp.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

A Bit More Time to Craft - Anything goes
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything goes
Incy Wincy - Anything goes
As You Like It - Favourite embellishment (one of my favourite embellishments is to use up my scraps of paper/card to use with dies to make matching die-cuts for my projects but they add dimension/texture but little weight so perfect when posting)
Lemon Shortbread - Anything goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything goes
Simon Says - Anything goes
Penny's Paper - Anything goes
Krafty Chicks - All occasions
Polkadoodles - Anything goes

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Here is a Christmas card I have made using the Dr Digi digital image called "Selfie Santa".

I have coloured the image in with Promarkers.

The backing papers are from Hobbycraft.  I used an embossing folder on some gold card to create the embossed border.

I have finished the card off quite simply with a sentiment and some pom pom balls.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Creative Moments - Anything goes with the option of birds and/or bees (what has inspired me through lockdown is Captain Tom and all the generous people worldwide that gave to the NHS Charities and also the dedication of ALL key workers that have put their lives on the line for others.  Their dedication means so very much)
Crafty Catz - Anything goes with the option of dots and/or stripes
Polkadoodles - Anything goes
CRAFT - Christmas/first
Passion for Promarkers - Dots and/or stripes (dots on the red paper) - congratulations to everyone involved with the Passion for Promarkers Challenge on your 11th anniversary
Alphabet Challenge - D is for dry embossing (dry embossed using a Christmas border embossing folder)
Crafting Happiness - Anything goes with the option of red
As You Like It - Favourite embellishment and why (I have lots of different embellishments I like to use ribbon/twine/trims and these pom pom balls have been cut from a pom pom trim.  I love the way that ribbon/twine and trims can create depth/texture/interest in cards/projects)

Here is my weekly inspiration post for the Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Stamps Monthly Challenge Blog.

Before I do I'd like to remind you that our challenge this month is:

"EMBOSSING - WET OR DRY OR BOTH".

This week the Design Team were challenged to "make a shaped card".

Here is my inspiration post with that theme.
I have used some arch dies to make my cute little 13cm x 10cm Christmas card.  I have used one of my all time favourite Ching-Chou Kuik's images for Christmas but this time I have used the greyscale version - "Poinsettia Fairy - Greyscale" (she comes in the "Hello Christmas Set" along with five other images).

I have coloured my image in with Promarkers, die-cut with the arch die and inked around the edge with a VersaMagic eggplant chalk ink pad.

The backing paper I have used is from Hobbycraft and I have used as a backdrop to the image as well as die-cutting with my smallest poinsettia die.

I have finished the card off quite simply with a LOTV digital sentiment, decorative red ribbon and some gems.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Happy Birthday Brother

Last Wednesday it was also my brother-in-law's birthday and as he likes his garden I used my Creative Crafting World "Meercat Madness - For the boys" CD and used this meercat mowing the lawn.  Whilst lockdown has been in place my brother-in-law has been able to spend a lot a time in his garden which he does not normally get to do as he runs his own business.  This card was made months ago but such an apt card for him.

I have used a topper sheet (printed out twice so I could decoupage), different backing papers and an insert from the CD.

As the card needed to be posted I have finished it simply with some twine, stamped sentiment (using two different stamps) and die-cut stars from the backing paper which I then embossed with an embossing folder for more texture.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything goes
Aud Sentiments - Anything goes and sentiment
Crafty Hazelnut Patterned Paper May Challenge - Anything goes

Sending Birthday Wishes Uncle

It was my uncle's birthday on Wednesday so I made him this card using my Creative Crafting World "Meercat Madness - For the boys" (sadly this is no longer showing on their website) and used this cute image of a meercat chilling out with a cup in his hand and a remote control for the TV in the other.  My uncle works really hard despite not being well himself and he looks after my aunt as she is not well so his favourite place is to sit watching the TV to get some "me" time especially if there are Carry On films to watch!!

For my card I have printed off two plain papers off the CD from the collection along with a patterned paper, image printed out twice so I could decoupage and insert.

As the card needed to be posted I have simply finished off the card with a stamped sentiment, gems, some spotty grosgrain ribbon, I made a little posy shape with some twine and a button.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Penny's Paper - Anything goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything goes

Ching-Chou Kuik's Digital Stamps Inspiration Post - Wednesday 13 May 2020

Here is my weekly inspiration post for the Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Stamps Monthly Challenge Blog.

Before I do I'd like to remind you that our challenge this month is:

"EMBOSSING - WET OR DRY OR BOTH".

This week the Design Team were challenged to "add some sparkle" eg glitter, glitter glue, sequins, gems or glitter pens etc.

Here is my inspiration post with that theme.
I decided to recycle a tin from a box of biscuits I got for Christmas from some colleagues at work as the lid had a beautiful pattern on it.  I first did a gesso layer on the tin lid.  I then used a brown acrylic paint mixed with gesso for the sand layer, a light blue acrylic paint for the sea and finally I used a sparkly blue Imagination Crafts starlights paint for the sky.

The Ching-Chou image I used was called "Autumn Sea" and I printed her out virtually the width of an A4 piece of card.  I then coloured my image in with Promarkers, added some Crafter's Companion clear sparkle pen to her tail (well everyone has to have a bit of sparkle don't they??) and fussy cut out.

I used various dies and stamps to embellish the tin and cut some grass out freehand.

I have finished the tin off with some sparkly sequins, die-cut mermaids, pearl, stamped sentiment and some wide string tied up like knots in a rope.
Here is a picture with my coloured in images waiting to be made into cards/creations and my uncoloured images.

I am entering this project into the following challenges:

A little NOTE to say ......

I decided to make myself a little bookmark.  I don't read books but find bookmarks handy to highlight interesting items I find in craft magazines.

Recently on the Kit and Clowder Facebook Group there was a free image given by All Dressed Up but it is also available in their Etsy Store and is called "A little note".

I have coloured the image in with Promarkers.

The backing papers I have used are all from The Works.  I have put all the papers through an embossing folder.  Note to self - when layering up papers check how they look carefully and not notice at the end that part of gold foiling on a piece of paper does not look like a splodge at the bottom of the bookmark.  If you look at the top near the hole for the ribbon that is another patch of gold so it is the paper and not me dropping something on it!!  Think I might have to stick something on here if it irritates me too much.

I have finished my bookmark simply with some ribbon, tiny punched butterflies, flowers from my stash and a brad.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Ally's Angels - Anything goes
Crafting Happiness - Anything goes with the option of nature
Crafty Sentiments - Anything goes
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
Creative Inspirations - Fabulously feminine!

Here is my weekly inspiration post for the Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Stamps Monthly Challenge Blog.

Before I do I'd like to remind you that our challenge this month is:

"EMBOSSING - WET OR DRY OR BOTH".

Here is my inspiration post with that theme.
Here is a bright and cheery birthday card I have made using the Ching-Chou Kuik image called "Ladybug" (which comes in a set along with "Butterfly").  I have coloured the image with Promarkers and added Glossy Accents to both ladybugs.  I have fussy cut around the image.

For this card I decided to do both wet and dry embossing.  I used a large dot Embossalicious embossing folder from Crafter's Companion with some red card.  I have used a music stamp from a bird collage set from Crafter's Companion and heated with white embossing powder.  I have then inked around the edge with a Versa Magic white chalk ink pad.

The bright and cheery backing papers are from The Works.

I have finished the card off with a "fly high" sentiment from the stamp sent which has been embossed with white embossing powder, LOTV digital sentiment, satin ribbon, grosgrain ribbon and some gems.

Especially for You

I have made this card for a friend to cheer them up whilst we are going through such a tough time in the world.  I thought I would use this Bugaboo image from the Chihuahua Puppy Set (which includes two other images).  I thought this little chihuahua springing up inside a cup would cheer anyone up.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers, chalked the background for a very subtle effect and used a brown Versa Magic chalk ink pad around the edge.

The main paper/card I used for the card was from a set of DCWV paper pad that my son gave to me.  I thought this backing paper with coffee beans on it was perfect for the job - although looking at all those coffee beans made we want some "proper" coffee!!

A while back I won a challenge but unfortunately my prize never arrived.  Some weeks later a package arrived and inside was a Studiolight set of dies and some stamps as the person was disappointed I had not got my first prize.  This was so nice of her.  I have used the Studiolight dies for the first time.  I'm not sure if they are supposed to make a little journal but I made into a card.  I loveeeeeeeeeeeee the "ripped out of a book edge" and will certainly use that more.

I used some texture stamps on the inside around the writing mount I did with the die and you can see this stamping through the ripped edge.
Here is a view of the card standing up on the ripped edge.

I have finished the card off with some John Lockwood greenery die-cuts, John Lockwood Lattice Flowers die-cuts (one out of plain brown and the top layer from scraps of the coffee bean card), a die-cut sentiment (that sentiment "especially for you" keeps making me hum the song by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donavon!!), Glossy Accents to the chihuahua's eyes/nose/tongue and finally some dots in the centres of the flower and on the image background with my Viva Decor bronze pen.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Love to Scrap - Anything goes
Love to Craft - Anything goes

Crafts Galore Encore - Anything goes
