Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge - 2 March 2011

It is time for another challenge over at Sweet Pea Stampers.  This fortnight the topic is "ever in time".
As soon as I saw the topic I knew I wanted to use the word "time" and knew the perfect image for it.  I have used my Crafty Purple Frog decoupage sheet called "Mad Tea Party" and have decoupage the image up with Collall glue gel.  I have used a piece of silver mirri, plain card and then some DCWV purple core stock card which I have put through one of my new Tim Holtz clock embossing folders.  I then sanded over the top, used my Tim Holtz distressing tool on both sides of the card to give it a good distress and then inked over with a chalk ink pad.  The pocket watch is a digital image I had on my computer but I don't know the author.  I coloured with Promarkers and then cut out and put Glossy Accents over the front.  The card has been finished off with card candi, gems, ribbon and sentiment off the computer.

Crafty Ann's Challenge #60 - Anything but a card - 2 March 2012

We had a lovely array of entries for the Crafty Ann's Challenge for the last night.  This fortnight be are being challenged to "anything but a card".
I decided to make a digital scrapbook page using Crafty Ann's Pretty in Pink scrapbook kit and Serif Craft Professional.  I certainly need more practice with this package but I am getting more used to it.  I used mainly items from the Pretty in Pink kit but used a few items from Serif.  The photo is of my husband, my youngest son and myself sat by the sea in Eyemouth last year.  It was a lovely little place and although it was sunny it was certainly very nippy.

I am entering this scrapbook page into the following challenges:

Aud Sentiments Design Team Card - Thursday 1 March 2012

Another fortnight has whizzed by.  I can't believe we are the first day of March.  It doesn't seem two months ago that we were celebrating the start of 2012!!!  This fortnight we are being challenged to "happy birthday" and this fortnight we are being sponsored by:
and

Bugaboo Digi Stamps have a lot of fun images but I chose this gorgeous flower image called "beautiful blocks - live, love, laugh"

I have coloured the image with about six shades of red Promarkers to try and get some depth to the flowers.  For the sky and grass I have used some shimmer chalks.  I have done some simple matting and layering as I didn't want to detract from this gorgeous image.  The card is finished off with sating ribbon, organza ribbon, Craftwork Card sentiment, card candy and some pearls in the centres of the flowers.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Inspire me Friday - Anything goes
2 Sisters - Anything goes
Party Time Tuesday - Anything goes
Creative Inspirations - Anything goes

Crafts and Me Challenge - 22 February 2012

Over at the Crafts and Me Challenge this week the topic is "shades of spring".  I went to Stamperama and got to meet the lovely Theresa and Tracy and got to have a look at some of the newly released stamps.  I bought two but then Tracy showed me some others on offer so another came home with me - naughty, naughty - but in my defence I thought they'd make nice cards to sell for charity.  I've coloured some of the images but not yet made them into cards yet so you'll have to wait on them but for my card I have used one of the Crafts and Me digital images called "Lady of Opal" by Sara Burrier.
For my card I have coloured the image in with Promarkers, adding some Sakura Stardust clear pen to her hair and wings.  I then used a Spellbinders die and cut out and then inked the edges with a chalk ink pad.  The papers are from Dovecraft and I thought they looked very spring-like.  The card has been finished off with some lace, Studio 112 corner and scroll stickers, bow, Craftwork Cards sentiment, crochet flower made by a friend and a resin flower added to the centre for some dimension.

Special House Mouse Card

I posted my tag last week that I made to go along with my aunt's House Mouse birthday card and it's time for the card itself as it is all finished, posted and hopefully in London now.
I decided to make a concertina card with the pages being 8x8 and it has four sides on each as I couldn't decide what yummy House Mouse decoupage to leave out that I had.  I have used lots of backing papers/card I've had for some time including some from Redhotbed.  All the images have been lovingly cut out and decoupaged with Collall glue gel.  The card in its entirety has been finished off with flowers, twine, ribbon, gems, sentiments and brads.

Here are some close-up photos of these wonderful House Mouse images:

Leaving Job Card

I made a special card for someone leaving at work last week.  I used my Arty Farty template which I bought three years ago and this is only the second time I've used it as I am useless at times just following written instructions.  I see now Arty Farty do pictures to go with the written instructions so that should help - just wish I had them!!!
The decoupage toppers are from the Flowersoft Wine Buffs CD and I thought this character supping his wine was perfect.  I cut the topper and a matching piece of card with my circle die as I am useless at cutting circles at times.  For the top of the card I used some Tim Holtz glassine paper, inked it with some distress ink pads, scrunched it all up and inked again.  I love the effect and texture this has given to the bottle.
I personalised the inside with an insert and backing papers from the CD
I made an accompanying box for the bottle to go in.  The stamps I used for the card and also the tissue paper are a See D's "boys and their toys" stamp.  The card has been finished off ribbon, gems and peel-offs.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The Crafty Purple Frog Challenge - 23 February 2012

It is time for another challenge at the Crafty Purple Frog Challenge.   For this challenge it is in honour of Saint David's Day (Saint David's Day is the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, and falls on 1 March of each year. The date of 1 March was chosen in remembrance of the death of Saint David. Many people will wear a daffodil to celebrate Saint David) and the challenge is to use use YELLOW AND GREEN of the colour of the daffodil.
For my card I have used the Crafty Purple Frog pyromage image called Ivy Mermaid and I have also used one of the new Crafty Purple Frog spring background papers which will be released shortly - they are really really yummy!!!  I have just done some simple matting and layering, inking the edges as per normal.  The flowers are all printed from a My Craft Studio Click-Print-Go CD and they've been inked as well.  The image is matted on a Spellbinders scalloped oval and I added some lace for a bit of dimension and interest.  The card is finished off with some peel-off circles for the centres of the flowers, Craftwork Cards sentiment and a ribbon bow.

Tuesday Throwdown Challenge - 14 February 2012

Over at the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge the topic this week is "entwined".  When I made my Polka Doodles card yesterday using the Polka Doodles CD Pretty Sweet there were two different sized digital images so I coloured in the smaller image with the same colours and have made her into an A6 card for the Craft for Life Appeal.  All the papers used are from my scraps box and the edges have been distressed by tearing them with an X-cut tearing ruled.  I was given the gold effect ribbon which feels metallic and decided to stitch through it my twine.  It sounds a good idea but I got bog-eyed after a while going "up and down"!!!  I put through a scrap of dog-eared mirri card through an embossing folder.  It's amazing how doing this can bring a piece of card to life again.  I have coloured the image with Promarkers and cut her out so she's sitting across the card.  The card has been finished off with some gems and a Craftwork cards sentiment.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Tuesday Throwdown - Entwined
Digital Tuesday - Use your stash

House Mouse and Friends Challenge - 13 February 2012

Over at the House Mouse and Friends Challenge this fortnight the challenge is "make wishes come true".
I have made this tag to go with my aunt's birthday card.  The card isn't finished as yet but needs to go in the post on Tuesday so I need to get my skates on.  As I don't want to write on the card I've made I've made a separate tag.  I have used a House Mouse image from Joanna Sheen's website called Birthdays.  I have used the House Mouse image of the little mouse that has "pigged out" on too much cake!!!  I have coloured the image with Promarkers, added some Glossy Accents to the icing for some texture and shine and cut around the image.  The small tag has been made with various shades of alcohol inks with the addition of some gold for some shine.  I then made a larger tag from a scrap of card.  I have threaded some seam binding through the small tag for the image to sit on.  The tag has been finished off with some pink/white/blue fibres, gems (as my aunt loves bling), buttons, handmade flower with brad centre and some epoxy stickers, one saying "with love" and one saying "Auntie Happy Birthday".

I am entering this tag into the following challenges:

House Mouse and Friends - Make wishes come true (my aunt wasn't a part of my family for 20+ years due to family difficulties.  Since my mum's death last June she has been a rock and will call 1-2 times a week and has visited three times, so despite it being sad that my mum has died wishes have come true for me as I have my aunt and uncle back in my life again)

For my card I have used a digi stamp from the Polka Doodles Pretty Sweet CD.  I have coloured the image with a mixture of Promarkers and Flexmarkers and cut her out.  She has been sat on a circle cut with an X-cut circle die and another die from Marinannes Designs Creatables.  The two flowery backing papers are from a Pampered Pets paper pad I was given.  I have finished off the card with a Craftwork Cards sentiment and the three embellishments I have chosen are some ribbon, buttons and flowers.

Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge - 17 February 2012

It's time for another challenge at Sweet Pea Stampers.  This time the challenge is "white-on-white".
I always tend to stay away from challenges with white-on-white (WOW) as the topic but being on the Design Team I couldn't do this!!!  The image I have used is from a Crafty Purple Frog invertage/pyromage sheet entitled Nostalgia.  I used a shaped card blank for a bit more dimension.  I then put through various pieces of white card from my scraps box into a swirl, brick and dot embossing folder.  The image is also mounted on top of another embossing folder but instead of keeping this square I cut around it.  Flowers are from two different Marinanne's Design Creatables dies along with the butterflies.  All pieces of card/frame/flowers and butterflies have all been edged with a crystal Stickles glitter glue to add dimension and sparkle.  The card has been finished off with seam binding ribbon, brads, pearls, buttons and Craftwork Cards sentiment.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

It is time for another challenge over at Crafty Ann's.  This time we are being challenged to "bold and bright" to cheer us up at this time of year.
For my card I have used Crafty Ann's new digital image of the rose trellis.  I printed out a beige polished stone and then printed the digital image straight onto this.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers but then paper pieced the roses by colouring again with brighter red colours and then covering with Glossy Accents for some shine and texture.  The orange and yellow backing papers are also from Crafty Ann's Digi Store and I have used a Martha Stewart lattice punch on one of the layers.  The card has been finished off with some peel-offs, card candy, lace and ticket sentiment from Crafty Ann's Digi Store.

House Mouse and Friends Challenge - 30 January 2012

Over at the House Mouse and Friends Challenge there is a love theme and also a Blog Hop where there are lots and lots of goodies to win.

This is the card I've made for my hubby for Valentine's Day.  I've used some decoupage I was given for a Christmas present.  Isn't this character such a cutie.  I love his little message as well!!!  I have decoupaged the image with foam pads.  The backing papers are from Joanna Sheen's House Mouse CD along with the insert.  I've kept the colour scheme to pink and brown.  I have cut some flowers out of a book using my Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and then inked alternate layers with Tim Holtz's Victorian Velvet and Vintage Photo distress ink pad.  The flowers have a brad to keep them together.  The card has been finished off with brown and pink seam binding, lots of hearts cut from the pink holographic card (yes they are pink but no matter how many photos I took or altering the colour they still don't look holographic pink!!), buttons, doily, sentiment off the computer and personalised insert.

I wanted to make a special card for my husband.  We'll have been married 21 years this year and a lot of those years I haven't been well but he has always been there by my side.  For the first time in many years we are off out on Valentine's night.  Last summer when I did a stall at Knuston Hall we won a meal for two in the raffle but with one thing and another we've not used it before now.  I struggle eating out especially if I am tired but I shall keep fingers crossed I get on OK.  We've decided to stay away for the night as well as a little treat it has been a difficult eight months since the sudden death of my mum.  At least we'll not have a 18 miles or so trip home after our meal.  We are looking forward to it as a friend works there and my mum would often go with her to events and they always rave about the meals.  The chef will be making meals for two ex-chefs!!!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
