Happy Birthday - Have a Great Day!

Here is a card for a male family member using some decoupage from Joanna Sheen by the artist Jody Bergsma (sadly I do not think it is available now).  These animal images are perfect for those men that do not really have an interest but then again I would gladly receive a card like this being a female.

The backing papers I have used are from The Works and Sara Davies Crafter's Companion Nautical Range.

As the card has to be posted I could not go too "over the top" but have die-cut some greenery, die-cut some netting, added a sentiment from the decoupage sheet, stamped a sentiment, used a piece of Crafter's Companion hessian style thread and knotted it in places and finally some gems.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Happy 60th Birthday to my Brother John

It was my brother-in-law's 60th birthday yesterday.  No party for him and nearly no handmade card as I haven't been at all well the last month.

My brother-in-law has an amazing fish tank in his front room and a lot of time is spent looking after the fish so it had to be a fish themed card.  I looked through various CDs and came across this image of four fish on my Joanna Sheen Jayne Netley Mayhew CD.  I printed off the topper sheet and an insert and the backing papers were from a Creative Crafting World CD.

I used the fish on the smaller toppers and fussy cut them and die-cut seaweed, net and vegetation and placed the cut out fish on either side of the card.  The main image is decoupaged.

I have finished the card off with a sentiment printed from the CD, the number "60" die-cut out of packaging card twice and then some patterned paper to add dimension, lots and lots of die-cuts and Nuvo pearl drops added to the vegetation and the backdrop for the fish.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The backing papers are from a nautical set by Sara Davies at Crafter's Companion and from The Works.

I have used shells, anchor, ship's wheel, netting and bubbles dies from Crafter's Companion with lots of scraps of brown card and inked the edges like with the papers with a Java VersaMagic ink pad.

I have finished the card off with some Joanna Sheen die-cut seagulls, stamped sentiment and twine with a charm thread through from Crafter's Companion.

Have a Cool Birthday Son

It is our eldest son's 28th birthday day.  Happy Birthday Kevin.

For his birthday card I have used my Joanna Sheen Furry Friends CD (sadly no longer available) and used the image of this gorgeous dog with his bandana.  I printed out the the topper sheet twice so I could do decoupage.  I have used backing papers, insert and toppers from the CD.  On one of the plain papers I stamped with a paw print stamp, dog bone and also a dotty texture stamp.

I have finished the card off with some wide blue grosgrain ribbon, red and white dotty grosgrain ribbon, stamped sentiment and a gingham bow.

Two House Mouse Happy Hoppers Birthday Cards

Here are two birthday cards I have made using Joanna Sheen's Happy Hoppers decoupage (sadly no longer available).

For my first card I have used this cute image of a bunny getting up to mischief by bouncing on a bag a flour - can you imagine the mess to clean up after that??

I have cut out all the decoupage and layered up.

The backing papers I have used are from The Works.

I have finished the card off with a sentiment, pink organza ribbon, light pink pleated ribbon, lots and lots and lots of Viva Declor pearl pen dots (I love these pens as they have a fine nozzle that never seems to clog up like other brands I have used) and a John Lockwood cornflower die flower (made from gutting some of the paper from matting and layering).
For the second card I have again fussy cut out all of the decoupage and layered up.

The backing papers are again from The Works.

I have finished this card off with a doily die cut from paper from the same collection, wide pink grosgrain ribbon, pink lace, sentiment, gems and a John Lockwood cornflower die flower (made from gutting some of the paper from matting and layering).

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:

Go Fetch

Here is a bookmark I have made using an image from my Joanna Sheen Jayne Netley Mayhew Digital Stamps CD.

I have used the image of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier in a square frame and printed off the image three times; once for the front of the bookmark, once for the back of the bookmark and once to cut up to decoupage on the front image.

I have used a Marianne Designs die to cut the shape of the bookmark, cutting card for the middle and a front and back layer of some paper from The Works.  I then used a tiny flower shape die to cut the hole out to push the tassel out.  Finally I put the bookmark through a Crafter's Companion dotty embossing folder for some texture.

I have finished the bookmark off quite simply as it cannot stick out too much in a book so I have added a tassel, some stamped paws, paw print dog label and a bone saying "go fetch!".

I am entering this bookmark into the following challenges:

2 Crafty Critters - Anything goes

Happy Birthday

Here is a card that I have made using my Joanna Sheen Jayne Netley Mayhew CD (sadly no longer available).  Isn't this cat gorgeous?

I have used a backing paper from the CD and printed off two sheets of the toppers so that I could decoupage the image (yes I may use a lot of rubber stamps and digital stamps but I still love using my CDs and doing decoupage).

I have finished the card off with a die-cut sentiment, ribbon with little cats on it and sequins (which caused me a right nightmare to photograph the card!!).

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Happy Birthday

I have made this male inspired card using this amazing image of these whales from a Joanna Sheen Jody Bergsma paper pad (sadly this paper pad does not seem to be on their website anymore).  In this pad you get two of the same images so to make this card a bit more special I have used both of the images on this card so I could do more decoupage.

The backing papers I have used are from The Works.

I have finished the card off with some ribbon and cut banner shapes into the ends of the ribbon and some Papermania Glitterations.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything goes

We have a friend who is in hospital so I wanted to make him a "get well soon" card.  I have used this glorious image from a Joanna Sheen Jody Bergsma paper pad (sadly this paper pad does not seem to be on their website anymore).  In this pad you get two of the same images so to make this card a bit more special I have used both of the images on this card so I could do more decoupage.

The backing papers I have used are from The Works.

I have finished the card off with little stamp images from the paper pad, sentiment from a Debbi Moore CD, gems, brown/bronze wide satin ribbon, grey/white spots satin ribbon and a grey organza bow.

Birthday Wishes

I needed to make a birthday card for someone who likes cats so I have used an image from a Joanna Sheen Jody Bergsma paper pad (sadly this paper pad does not seem to be on their website anymore).  In this pad you get two of the same images so to make this card a bit more special I have used both of the images on this card so I could do more decoupage.

I have just used different coloured card instead of backing papers, one of which I put through a large dots embossing folder.

I have finished the card off with a Craftwork Cards sentiment, satin ribbon, spotty grosgrain ribbon, organza bow and a large dazzler that was originally pink but I coloured with a black Promarker pen.

Two Good Luck Cards

I was in need for two good luck cards for people at work.

I have used two images from a Joanna Sheen Jody Bergsma paper pad (sadly this paper pad does not seem to be on their website anymore): the otters and the dragonflies.
I have used the image from the paper pad and have decoupage the images.  They have been teamed it up with papers from Debbi Moore Inspiration Magazines.

The otters card has been finished off with a Sizzix rosette, stamped sentiment, button, ribbon and pearls.

The dragonflies card has been finished off with ribbon, lace, stamped sentiment, gems, Joanna Sheen die-cut dragonfly and another die-cut dragonfly but I do not know the make.

Happy Birthday

This is a card I have made using an image from a Joanna Sheen Jody Bergsma paper pad.  I love this image of the horses running around.

For the mount on the card I used some Sheena Douglass feather stamps and some See D's sentiment and texture stamps and stamp with various inks.

I used a feather die I had and cut them out and added some Cosmic Shimmer Copper Guilding Polish for some colour and shine.

I have finished the card off with a decorative border from the paper pad, the die-cut feathers and a Crafty Creations die-cut sentiment.

Happy 50th Birthday

It was a colleague's 50th birthday recently.  Well if a 50th birthday doesn't mean a nice posh card in a box what does?
My colleague loves cats so I knew which CD of mine to go straight to.  I picked my Joanna Sheen Furry Friends CD (sadly no longer available on Joanna Sheen's website) and printed the toppers out a few times so I could decoupage and I used backing papers (the pink striped and the grey textured) from the CD.
To finish decorating the card I used the grey paper and cut out "50" and "today", ribbon, button, charm, twine, glass cat bead and gems.

I made up the box and decorated it on the outside with the few cat stamps I had.  Once I made up the box I stamped the same images onto tissue paper for the card to sit on in the box.

My colleague really appreciated all the time and effort I put into making her card.
