Happy Birthday

I wondered why my two posts did not go "live" last week when we were away.  

I'd saved them as drafts and not published them - silly me eh? 

I am still getting used to doing things differently with Blogger.

I have made this card using my gorgeous Pink Ink Designs giraffe stamp and stamped it onto coloured paper.  I then coloured in areas with my Promarkers.  I also stamped out the leaves and flowers from backing papers I had.

I decided that I wanted the giraffe poking out from behind a frame so I used a large Spellbinders die to die cut the shape out.  As I wanted to make sure it was in exactly the same place on all three layers I decided to stick the layers together and then die-cut.  That was a no-no because three layers on top of double-sided tape it would not cut the whole way through no matter what I did.  In the end I decided to lay the image over the back and cut which worked.  I then put the die back on the front and ran it through my Gemini and I managed to get the edge embossed again.  Lesson learnt!!

The digital papers I have used are from Summertime Designs (sadly no longer available).  For the back of the frame I used Pan Pastels to make a very delicate background and used some greenery stamps in the bottom corner.

I have finished the card off with a die-cut sentiment and the flowers and leaves I stamped and cut out.

I hope the recipient likes it.  I am sure she will.

Wishing you a Wonderful Birthday

For this special birthday card I have used the Pink Ink Designs image called "Giraffe".

I got a gelli plate for my birthday in October and I recently got it out to play with.  I used inks/stamps and stencils.  I then tried with acrylic paints/stamps and stencils.  I preferred used the inks as it was a lot less messy.  I stamped my giraffe and die-cut my tags out of a piece of yellow and a piece of copper coloured gelli plate designs.  I also cut the yellow frame out, embossed with a Crafter's Companion 8x8 embossing folder and inked the edges.  The white frame I embossed and then used a leaf stamp from the stamp set and stamped around the edge.  Of course the giraffe had to have glasses so I stamped and cut them out.

The black glitter card is rather gorgeous and is from Hobbycraft.

I stamped some leaves and flowers onto scraps of paper and cut out.

My card has been finished off quite simply with the flowers, leaves and stamped tag sentiment.

Fingers crossed the recipient likes it.  Not my normal type of card for her!!

Happy Birthday Niece

Here is a card that I have made for my niece's birthday today.  Not sure what she will think of it but I am hoping she likes it as it took quite a long time to make.

For my card I have used the Pink Ink Designs stamp set called "Giraffe".  I have used the main stamps along with two different leaves and the flower stamp - and of course the designer glasses for the giraffe!!!!  For the giraffe I have stamped her onto some printed paper from my stash.

I have used a large card die for the actual card shape and the different layers, putting one layer through a Crafter's Companion dotty 8x8 embossing folder.

I didn't want to detract from the image, leaves and flowers so I have just finished the card off with a stamped sentiment.

Are you having a Giraffe? Hope your birthday is as special as you are Son

Here is the card that I have made for my eldest son's 27th birthday (oh that does make me feel old!!).  He has a good sense of humour so a giraffe wearing posh glasses will suit him.

Virtually all of the card I have used the stamp set from Pink Ink Designs called "Giraffe".  I like the way that you have the main image and other smaller images to "set the scene".

For the first mount of the card I stamped various leaf stamps from the set which I also repeated inside the card.  The larger of the leaf stamps I coloured in with Promarkers.  For the top mount I stamped the giraffe (and stamped the head again onto a spare piece of card so I could do decoupage of the head) and then used two of the stamps from the set using 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation stamping of the leaf stamp.  I have coloured the giraffe in with Promarkers and highlighted areas with my white Posca pen.

I then decided to do some very intricate work as I wanted the giraffe to have proper "posh" glasses.  My son wears glasses and when he buys new ones he is very particular on the ones he gets.  I have stamped the glasses onto card, cut the lenses out, glued on acetate and left to dry, cut around the shape of the glasses which was quite hard and then added red stripes to the glasses so he ended up with red-white-blue glasses.  Sticking them on proved a challenge as I wanted them to stick up so I glued the frame at the bottom and at the top and when dry just gently pushed up the sides of the glasses and weighed down for some hours with a paperweight.

I then stamped lots of the leaf and flower stamps, coloured them in with Promarkers, cut them all out and used them to decorate inside and outside of the card.

The card is finished off with a sentiment off the stamp set "Are you having a Giraffe?", a happy birthday sentiment with another stamp "son" added to the bottom and some gorgeous gingham ribbon.

New Bookmark for My Husband

My husband loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees to read books.  He will not use my Kindle and has to read via a book in his hand so I have made him a new bookmark.

I have used a Sheena Douglass stamp of this gorgeous dog.  It reminds me of our friend's new puppy that we saw last month.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers.

For the shape of the card I have used a Sheena Douglass shaped tag and cut three layers:  a white layer in the middle and two patterned layers for the front and back to give it more stability.

I have used a sentiment banner from a set of Christmas stamp from Crafter's Companion and cut out the banner in purple, yellow and green to add some extra colour to the tag.

I have added some die-cut flowers which I have just put together with tacky glue to keep them flat, some die-cut greenery free from a magazine, added some Pinflair gold pearl wand to the centre of the flowers and some of the banners and added a tassel that I got from Joanna Sheen's store a number of years ago.

Now will my husband like his new bookmark?

Thank You Card

Here is another thank you card that I have made.  The little girl and boy stamps I was given but I think they are Hanglar stamps or I might be totally and utterly wrong.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and fussy cut them out.

For the background I have used some papers from Hobbycraft along with a beach hut embossing folder which I used chalks to colour in.

I have finished the card off quite simply with a stamped sentiment and some die-cut seagulls by Joanna Sheen.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Here are two cards that I made, one for a friend and one for my aunt and uncle.

Before my birthday I was lucky enough to visit the Crafter's Companion Evesham Store and managed to get this Sheena Douglas stamp and matching die that I had wanted from the previous year.  Needless to say I thought it would be perfect for a Christmas card.

 I watercoloured the houses, lamps and trees in pots with my Spectrum Noir Aqua Pens.  I haven't done watercolouring for some time but although I didn't feel well I managed to get these images coloured.

I added some glitter and white Flowersoft to the roof of the house, roof of the porch and then added highlights to the fence, trees in pots and the ground.

I have used various The Works backing papers for the cards.

I have finished the cards off with some die-cut greenery, poinsettia flowers from Hobbycraft and a stamped sentiment. I

Various Christmas Cards

 This is a Christmas card I have made for my eldest son and his partner.  I have used some Debbi Moore Inspiration Magazine decoupage along with some backing papers.  As they both wear glasses I have added glasses to the penguins!!

 I recently bought The Papercraft Essentials Magazine (Issue 1515) as I saw this letterbox embossing folder and stamps and thought it would prove useful.

 I embossed the whole folder onto white card and then used a light blue Pan Pastel to colour the sky.  I used a snowflake stamp that came with the magazine and a blue chalk ink pad to add snowflakes to the sky.  I then used the embossing folder and embossed with red for the letterbox and black for the base.  This took a long time over a few days as it was hard going with my Grand Calibur.  Once embossed I cut out the letterbox and base and stuck them onto the main image.

 I used various backing papers to mount the scene on and used various stamps to add a sentiment.  Some cards are finished off with cute little images from a recent Debbi Moore Inspiration Magazine.  The others are finished off with the cute little girl and birds which I have coloured with my Promarkers.

I made about 20 of these cards but forgot to photograph them all.  They have been made using a Simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine (Issue 167) where you had all these stamps to make into a wreath and you had this stag head die.  I have used the stamps that came with the die to stamp the wreath shape with various leaves, cones and holly.  I have also used some cat stamps that I have had for a very long time.

Thank You

 When on holiday recently a lot of our photos came out blurry.  We had swapped our details with a lovely couple we met on our tour and spent time with and they kindly copied their photos they took for us.  Yes the photos of my husband and I are blurry but we now have a lot more photos of where we have been which means so much to me.

 As a special "thank you" I have made this card using some Artemio Ne York stamps that I bought to make a scrapbook with.  I stamped all over two pieces of card with the New York cab, dollar note, airplane, I love NY, apple, squirrel and hamburger.  The other two pieces had a New York skyline stamped onto them.  I inked around all with my Tim Holtz's Pumice Stone distress ink.

I have then added some photos onto the card and decoupaged some of them on the front page of the card.

I have finished the card off with a stamped sentiment, stitched ribbon ad some buttons.

Summer Fun - Out in the Caravan!!!

Here is an A4 card that I have made using lots of different scene-it style Stamps from Stamp Addicts along with their cloud stamp, birds stamp and small poppy stamp for my husband's birthday next month.  I used the bottom of a flower stamp ie the stems and stamped it in four shades of green to represent grass.  Once I had stamped the scene I then set to and coloured it with my Pan Pastels using brown, green, blue, grey, white and yellow.

Next came the job of sorting out the main image.  This is courtesy of the Polkadoodles Work and Play CD 3.  As soon as I saw this image I knew what I wanted to use it for.  I made the image large, coloured in with my Graph'it pens, cut out the image and also the windows and inserted acetate to look like glass for the windows.  The image was then mounted on lots of foam pads so you can really see into the distance looking through the caravan.

I have finished the card off quite simply with some die-cut butterflies, sentiment generated on the computer, dotty ribbon and a button.

The Bleach Blocking Technique

 Over at the Craft Stamper Magazine Challenge this month the topic is "The Bleach Blocking Technique".  For my first card I have rubbed over a piece of card with Tim Holtz's Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Pumice Stone and Black Soot distress inks in a very random pattern.  Then you dampen a blending tool sponge, dab it onto the card for 10-20 seconds and lift away.

 As you'll see in this close-up the effect you will get are bleached out rectangles with my cards as I used a Tim Holtz blending tool and sponge.  It has worked quite well with this colour scheme but as you'll see below - it didn't work well with Tim Holtz's Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass distress inks.  I personally think it needs darker colours to make this most effective or a better combination.  Think I'll have another play as it was good fun.

The yellow card I have used a free set of IndigoBlu stamps that I got with Simply Cards and Papercraft last time and stamped the items with black Versafine.  I have cut out and decoupaged some elements and added some ribbon to finish off.

This card I have used some Artemio stamps and again stamped with black Versafine.  I have simply finished off with some mirri card and some ribbon.

Here is a card that I have made using a stamp by Stamp Addicts of this gorgeous elephant.  I have used the following colours:

Elephant - using shades of grey Graph'it pens (9101, 9103, 9105 and 9502)

Greenery on the image - 8260 and 8270 Graph'it pens

Grass and sky - green Pan Pastel for the grass and blue Pan Pastel for the sky.

Hannah Lynn - Forever Rose

Well this card has been waiting to post on my blog for days.  Unfortunately my next instalment at the dentist on Monday didn't go well.  It was awful.  I have to go back this coming Monday for my stitches to come out.  Then I'll be back 3-4 weeks after that, giving my mouth time to heal in the meantime, for the next instalment.  It's then he'll make a decision about whether I need referral to the hospital for surgery.  I've had surgery in 2011 and 2012 to two teeth next door to one another and ironically this is the next one along.  It's not a common procedure to have so to have it twice isn't good.  What would a third time be?  Fingers crossed we don't need it.

Here is a card I have made using a Crafts and Me digital stamp by Hannah Lynn called "Forever Rose".  She is certainly a beauty.  I have coloured her face/hair with my new Graph'It pens - I'm in love!!!  Especially in love as I bought some of the interchangeable brush nibs that I've put on the skin colours - these brushes are amazingggggggg.  For my skin I have used 4155, 4150 and 4115.

For my hair I have used 1270 and 2120.

For the red colour I didn't have any red Graph'It's so I have used a Burgundy and Crimson Promarker.

The backing papers I was given.  The rose backing paper is gorgeous as it's flocked.

I've finished the card off with a Marianne Dsigns corner die-cut, die-cut buttons, lace, ribbon bow, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and some roses (these are a burgundy colour but for some reason with the flash look a lot lighter).

Thanks a Lot Card

This is a card I have made using a digital image from Crafts and Me called "The Lady of Opal" by Sara Burrier.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and highlighted areas with my Sakura Stardust clear pen.  The backing papers are all from my stash.  I have used my Martha Stewart lattice punch for decoration around the middle of the card.  I have die-cut a Marianne's Designs decorative oval and a Spellbinders butterfly and inked with Tim Holtz's Tattered Rose distress ink pad and my Inkylicious brush.  I have finished the card off with some wide ribbon, Creative Expressions ribbon flowers, ribbon bow, Craftwork Cards sentiment and pearls.

One Stamp - Four Different Cards

Here is a selection of four cards that I have made with an owl from Stamp Addicts.  I have stamped the image, fussy cut, coloured in with Promarkers and added 3D googly eyes to the owls.  This card has been finished off with some lace, fibres, orange poinsettias, Craftwork Cards sentiment and Papermania Glitterations.

This card has been finished off with various pieces of card put through embossing folders, fibres, Craftwork Cards sentiment, paper flower, crochet flower made by a friend and a button attached with wire.

All the backing papers are from my stash.  I normally do ruffling of ribbon with the red tape but this time I have ruffled with Washi tape.  It does it so quickly and easily and if you go wrong you can unstick.  Perfect!!!  This card has been finished off with various paper flowers, brad, gems and Craftwork Cards sentiment.

For each of the images I have used my Promarkers to design the tree for the branch to sit on.  I have used a blue Pan Pastel for the sky and then used a See D's dotty stamp and Tim Holtz's Broken China distress ink pad.  This card has been finished off with some orange poinsettias, Craftwork Cards sentiment and Papermania Glitterations.

Birthday Card

This is a card made using a Stamp Addicts elephant stamp.  Isn't he a cutie?  I've coloured him in with my Promarkers, die-cut around him and used Pan Pastels for the grass and sky.  The backing papers I was given.  I have finished the card off with some raffia ribbon, buttons, My Craft Studio flowers, flower brads, Marianne Designs die cut corner (added to the top of the die-cut image) and a Craftwork Card sentiment.

Especially for You

..... now I shall be singing the lyrics for "Especially for You" by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan!!!!!!

Here is a card made with two stamps from Stamp Addicts I've wanted for a while but each time I've gone to buy they've been out of stock.  I managed to get the "Dottiness Clouds" stamps and the "large and small poppies" stamps.  The backing papers I was given so I do not know their origin.  I used a piece of Inkylicious card and use one of the dotty stamps and a Versamark ink pad and stamped all over.   I then used my red Pan Pastel and the rounded end tool and covered the piece of card to dry off the Versamark ink and leave the dots showing.  I then used a black Memento ink pad to stamp the large poppy and then coloured in with my Promarkers.  The card has been finished off with some gingham ribbon, flower shaped buttons and a Craftwork Cards sentiment.
