New Job Cards

About six weeks ago our eldest son changed his job.  He is now back working at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.  For his card I have used The Paper Shelter image called "Businessman".  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and fussy cut around the image.

The backing papers are from The Works.  I have also used a topper from a Hunkydory small book pad.

I have finished the card off with some twine and card candi.
Our youngest son moved to Southampton on Sunday to start a new job at the University of Southampton. Of course he needed a card as well.  This time I have used the pre-coloured topper and image.  I cut the image out three times so I could do some decoupage.

I have finished the card off with a sentiment and die-cut stars which I have put through two different embossing folders.

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:

Good Luck in your New Job Sam

I wanted to make a "Good Luck in Your New Job" card.  For my card I have used The Paper Shelter image called "Businessman".  I liked the colourway of The Paper Shelter image called "Workout Time!" and I have gone with using the backing paper for that one instead and have gone ahead with colouring using that colourway.  The image has been coloured in with my Promarkers.  I have added Glossy Accents to the glasses.  I have fussy cut out the image - a lot easier this time as the image is quite tall as I wanted to fit everything onto a 8x8 card.

I like doing fussy/lots and lots added to cards but I like doing more simple cards especially with male cards.

I have simply used some grey paper and black glitter paper to compliment the backing paper.

I have done the sentiment off the computer and layered it up with the grey card and black glitter card and added a bulldog clip to the top.  Instead of ribbon I have used some silver stretchy fibres for some interest on the card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Good Luck in your New Job Kevin

Today sees our eldest son start a new job.  When he was a child we nearly lost him twice due to his brittle asthma.  Since he's been working he has vowed to "give back" to the NHS for them saving his life twice.  This will be his third job in an NHS Trust.

For my card I have used my Creative Crafting World Meercat Madness For the Boys CD.  I have used a topper sheet, three different backing papers and an insert for the CD.

On one of the backing papers I have used two of my texture stamps to stamp on a checked and a harlequin texture to tie in with the topper.

I have finished the card off quite simply with a computer generated sentiment, seam binding ribbon, organza ribbon, lots of die-cut stars and a button.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Good luck in Your New Job Kevin

Today is a special day for our eldest son Kevin.  He is re-joining the NHS and is going to be working at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the West Middlesex Hospital.
I thought he needed an appropriate card so I have made this one for him using various images and papers from downloads from the Hunkydory Club called "Thursday - Man's World" and I have used a brown paper with faux stitching and a brown/blue check.
His dad and I so proud of Kevin going back to join the NHS.  Sadly we have nearly lost Kevin twice in his life due to brittle asthma but thankfully NHS staff have made him better.  As an adult Kevin has always said he wants to give back to the NHS so his new job will let him do this.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The Corrosive Challenge - Anything goes
Creatalicious - Anything goes with the option for a boy/man
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes

A Very Proud Mum and Dad

Back in July 2012 our eldest son graduated.  It wasn't easy for him to get his degree as he was working full-time as well.  He has spent his working years in IT.

Today sees him start a new job in the NHS working at the same hospital that I work at.  Both his dad and myself are so proud on what he has achieved and we know he will give his new job his all.
The day could not go without me making a card.  I have used an image I bought some years ago from CraftsUPrint that was designed by Gordon Fraser.   It is called "Computer Whizz (red) A4".  Shall I tell you a secret - it's the same image I used for my son's first job card when he went into IT!!  I have added the NHS logo to the TV screen and made my own backing paper.  I printed off two of the same image - the first I fussy cut and the second I did as decoupage.

For the shape of the card I have used a Dutch Doobadoo Card Stencil.  I cut various layers out of white card and the backing paper, distressed all the edges with a Tim Holtz distressing tool and inked the edges with a chalk ink pad.

I have finished the card off with sentiment off the computer, peel-off stars and a ribbon bow.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Penny's Paper Challenge - Ribbon and bows
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
Inspiration Destination - Anything goes
Creative Inspirations - Anything goes and option of a sketch

Good Luck in Your New Job

My goodness me this virus that I've had now since the week before Christmas is a persistent so-and-so and doesn't want to go.  This card has taken me 1.5 weeks to make.  A friend of mine is starting a new job today.  I wanted her to get this card well ahead of time but this virus has wiped me out.  At least she'll get the card before her first pay packet!!  I wish her all the very best in her new job and thank goodness it will mean no more motorway drives every day for her.

The image I have used is from Faery Ink Designs and is called "Gabbie the Rose Tea Fairy".  I love that this image comes in both JPEG and PNG format and you get a black lines version and a no lines version.  What a bargain for $3.00.

I have coloured my image in with my Promarkers and used a yellow, pink, blender and coarse medium Pan Pastel for the background.  I have added some Stickles glitter glue to the fairy's wings, edge of dress and the hearts on the tea-cup.

The blue backing papers are from The Works and are a 8x8 set for £3.00.  It is wonderful value.  I bought a pink one recently and prefer the combinations in that pack whereby you get two of each paper whereas this blue pack you only get one of each paper.  The patterned pink card is from Hunkydory.  I have inked around the edge of all the papers and the image with either Tim Holtz's Victorian Velvet or Chipped Sapphire distress ink.

I have finished the card off with some crochet ribbon, pearls, wired edged ribbon that I have pleated, sentiment off the computer, button, 10mm pink gingham ribbon, white spiral stamen (inked with a pink chalk ink pad), white Cosmos daisies (which I have inked with a pink chalk ink pad) and two shades of pink Sweetheart Blossoms.

Good Luck in Your New Job

Here is a card I have made for some special.  I have made it using Ching-Chou Kuik's Digital Stamp called "Boston Terrier".  Look at that cute face on the terrier!  I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens and highlighted areas with my white Graph'it pen.

The backing papers I have used were from my stash.

I have used a Marianne Deigns die and cut out a shape and distressed around with Tim Holtz's Aged Mahogany distress ink.  I think sewed some bugle bears around the inner edge of the image.

I have finished the card off with some punched flowers from scraps of the backing paper, burgundy textured Veletta ribbon, Bordeaux 25mm organza ribbon, sentiment off the computer and a teardrop shaped gem.

Good Luck in Your New Job

Here is a card and matching box I have made using Debbi Moore's New York CD.
The box is on the CD but I had to decorate the inside and outside - well you can't have a posh card and not a posh box can you?
As you can see from the box I have adorned it with some images from the CD, ribbon, pearls on a string, sentiment off the computer, gems and Papermania Glitterations.
Inside the box there is a concertina style card.  All the images whether they be design sheets or toppers or decoupage are all from the CD along with the backing papers.
It certainly wasn't a quick card and box to make as it took some time just cutting out all the images let alone planning on how to put the card together.
Various pages have been left blank so that people can sign the card.

As you can see there is lots of bling.

Embellishments are used from the CD along with border strips.
The completed article - card in a decorated box.

If you haven't got this CD it certainly a wonderful CD to use for many different occasions.

I am entering this card and matching box into the following challenges:

Sweet Pea Stamps - Blue Rose Tattoo

This is a card I have made using a Sweet Pea Stamps image by Ching-Chou Kuik.  The image is called "Blue Rose Tattoo" and is available as a digital stamp, single rubber stamp and as part of a multi-image sheet (Sheet 15, Plate 45 - Blue Rose Tattoo comes on the multi-image sheet with Aloha, Restless Thoughts and Carnations of May).

I have coloured the digital stamp with my Promarkers/Flexmarkers, highlighted areas with my Pan Pastels, tore around the image and then inked with Tim Holtz's Chipped Sapphire and Victorian Velvet distress ink.

The backing papers I have used are Bearly Mine Designs Mini Dots, Plain and Simple and Vintage Fantasy.  The papers have been distressed with Tim Holtz's Victorian Velvet and Chipped Sapphire distress ink.  I have made some flowers using one of the first Marianne Designs flower dies I bought and some scraps of the backing papers.  I have used a Marianne Designs branch embellishment and a Spellbinders butterfly die and rubbed over Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium.  I have finished the card off with some raffia ribbon, sentiment off the computer, buttons, pearls and organza ribbon.

Leaving Job Card

I made a special card for someone leaving at work last week.  I used my Arty Farty template which I bought three years ago and this is only the second time I've used it as I am useless at times just following written instructions.  I see now Arty Farty do pictures to go with the written instructions so that should help - just wish I had them!!!
The decoupage toppers are from the Flowersoft Wine Buffs CD and I thought this character supping his wine was perfect.  I cut the topper and a matching piece of card with my circle die as I am useless at cutting circles at times.  For the top of the card I used some Tim Holtz glassine paper, inked it with some distress ink pads, scrunched it all up and inked again.  I love the effect and texture this has given to the bottle.
I personalised the inside with an insert and backing papers from the CD
I made an accompanying box for the bottle to go in.  The stamps I used for the card and also the tissue paper are a See D's "boys and their toys" stamp.  The card has been finished off ribbon, gems and peel-offs.
