Colour Crazy Challenge Blog - Friday 5 January 2018

It is Friday and therefore time for another challenge over at the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog.

Today sees the start of my role as a permanent member of the Design Team.  I am super excited.

The topic is "anything goes".
We are lucky to have "Polkadoodles" as our sponsor this week.
I created my own journal recently and decided the time was right to decorate the front of my journal.  I have used the Polkadoodles image called "Ula - Be a Unicorn" as I loveeeeee anything to do with unicorns. I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and added Stickles glitter glue to her wings.
The background of the journal I made myself by using Tim Holtz Distress Oxides ink refills, different stamps, knocking them back a bit with Imagination Crafts Pearl Starlights Metallic Paint and then stamped over again.  I used a Marianne Designs die for the letters for "MY JOURNAL" and die-cut twice in pink and blue and shadowed them on top of each other.  The page has been finished off with some Viva pearl drops, flowers and the sentiment that came with the digital stamp.

Promarkers used:

Face/skin - Saffron, Spice and Oatmeal
Hair/horn - Duck Egg, Pastel Blue, Azure, Fuchsia Pink and Pink Carnation.
Wings - Pastel Blue and Stickles glitter glue.
Tail -  Duck Egg, Pastel Blue and Azure.

Happy Birthday Ching-Chou Kuik

Today is a special day for the Ching-Chou Kuik Inspiration and Challenge Blog Design Team Members and the Facebook Group Design Team Members as it is our leader/designer's birthday, Ching-Chou Kuik.

Happy birthday Ching-Chou.
In celebration of her birthday we are having a Facebook Group Hop so you need to pop on over to the Facebook Group to have a look.  You MUST comment on all Design Team Members' Facebook pages to qualify for the prize.

Above is the card that I have made for Ching-Chou Kuik and I am hoping it will be with her for today.

I have used the Ching-Chou Kuik image called "Under the Moonlight" and I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with a white gel pen and my Crafter's Comapnion clear sparkle pen.

For the backing paper I have used many different texture stamps and different coloured inks onto a piece of paper from a The Works paper pad.  Once completely dry I put it through a Crafter's Companion 8x8 hessian embossing folder.  I then rubbed over in areas using my Imagination Crafts Gold Starlight Wax.  I love this stuff as it has virtually no smell.  I struggle with most other makes as their smell makes me cough badly.

I have had to finish the card off simply as it has to be posted so I made a die-cut flower out of tissue paper, die-cut two feathers and added a Crafty Creations die-cut sentiment.

Don't forget to play along on the Facebook Hop and see all the beautiful creations from the Facebook Group Design Team and the Blog Design Team.

Once again, happy birthday Ching-Chou.

Promarkers used:

Face/skin - Saffron, Spice and Oatmeal
Hair - Saffron, Vanilla and Cocoa
Trees - Tan and Cinnamon

Lemon Shortbread Challenge - Tuesday 2 January 2018

Welcome to the first challenge on the Lemon Shortbread Challenge Blog for 2018.

We hope you had a good Christmas and New Year.

The challenge this fortnight is "anything goes".
For my card I have used the Lemon Shortbread image called "Walking the dog".  I have coloured my image in with Promarkers and chalked the background.

The backing papers are from my stash.  I used up soooooooooo many backing papers in 2017 and will continue to look in my scrap wallets first, then bought papers and then finally print off from the computer if I can't find anything suitable.  It certainly worked a treat in 2017 so I shall continue it again this year.

I put a piece of purple card through an embossing folder and used some Imagination Crafts Starlight Wax to highlight the embossing.

I have finished the card off with some grosgrain ribbon, star satin ribbon, die-cut flowers, doily, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and some pearls.

Promarkers used:

Face/skin - Saffron, Spice and Oatmeal

Hair - Sandstone, Khaki and Caramel

Jacket and shoes - Purple, Amethyst and Orchid

Dress, hairband and socks - Duck Egg, Cool Aqua and Denim Blue

Dog - Saffron, Caramel and Vanilla.

Guest Designer for the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog

I recently won a challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog and I was asked if I would like to be a Guest Designer for January.  I used to be on their Design Team so I immediately said "yes".

The topic for the challenge for January is "Winter".
For my Winter inspired birthday card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Olyvia with Owl".  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and added some Stickles glitter glue on the fur of her coat.

For the backing I used various inks and stamps to design my own backing card.  I used a Tim Holtz mixed media die to cut hexagons out of the backing card and the insert some back in on foam pads.  I then die-cut some other hexagons out of some blue card.

I have finished the card off with a sentiment, Sue Wilson die-cut greenery and a flower made out of tissue paper, held together with a brad and Stickles glitter glue added for some extra sparkle.

Promarkers used:

Face/skin - Saffron, Spice and Oatmeal
Hair - Burnt Sienna, Sandstone and Khaki

Various Christmas Cards

This is a Christmas card I have made for my eldest son and his partner.  I have used some Debbi Moore Inspiration Magazine decoupage along with some backing papers.  As they both wear glasses I have added glasses to the penguins!!
I recently bought The Papercraft Essentials Magazine (Issue 1515) as I saw this letterbox embossing folder and stamps and thought it would prove useful.
I embossed the whole folder onto white card and then used a light blue Pan Pastel to colour the sky.  I used a snowflake stamp that came with the magazine and a blue chalk ink pad to add snowflakes to the sky.  I then used the embossing folder and embossed with red for the letterbox and black for the base.  This took a long time over a few days as it was hard going with my Grand Calibur.  Once embossed I cut out the letterbox and base and stuck them onto the main image.
I used various backing papers to mount the scene on and used various stamps to add a sentiment.  Some cards are finished off with cute little images from a recent Debbi Moore Inspiration Magazine.  The others are finished off with the cute little girl and birds which I have coloured with my Promarkers.
I made about 20 of these cards but forgot to photograph them all.  They have been made using a Simply Cards and Papercraft Magazine (Issue 167) where you had all these stamps to make into a wreath and you had this stag head die.  I have used the stamps that came with the die to stamp the wreath shape with various leaves, cones and holly.  I have also used some cat stamps that I have had for a very long time.

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:

Crafty Hazelnut Christmas - Anything Christmas goes with the option of use the word "Christmas"
Creative Craft Cottage - Anything goes
Cute Card Thursday - Anything goes
Crafty Gals Corner - Anything goes
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
