Less is More Challenge - 19 February 2011

The challenge this week at the Less is More Challenge is "spring".  I can't say I find these challenges easy but I am trying to have a go each week.  I think we get too much in a comfort zone of adding layers of papers/embellishments etc and it is difficult to take things back to basic.  For my card I have used a 5x5 card blank and worked out the centre point.  I then used my purple Memento ink pad and made the four petal shapes with  it.  I have outlined the edges with faux stitching with a purple Eddy pen.  The card is then simply finished off with some peel-off's for the corners, a stamped sentiment and a button for the centre of the flower.

This card also fits the following challenges:

Allsorts - Inspired by nature
I Did it Creations - Anything goes
Lexi's Creations - Flowers
Paper Romance - Anything goes

Hi Kym
Well your card is certainly CAS
I would recommend trying to place the 'extras' in a non symmetrical arrangement. They have to balance the design, but the corners serve no purpose, in my humble opinion of course
We do so appreciate this style does not come naturally but it seems people want to learn
Thank you for joining us again Kym

Often when making a CAS card it's useful to keep away from symmetry. Balance can be achieved without things being placed centrally. Maybe you could try putting the main focal point off centre and balancing it in the positioning of the sentiment.
These are just ideas for you to experiment with in the coming weeks.
You may find you have a lot of fun doing it!
We really appreciate your participation each week.. so see you next time!

Great job Kym, love the soft colour you have used. Isn't it great getting tips for these type of cards from the fab ladies!

I do like the effect of the faux stitching round the petals!

I love my Memento inks, can you believe I've never thought to make a flower the way you have? Great idea!

Somebody said something about balance - I would have had an odd # of petals as the eye doesn't try to balance it out as much. Nature would do the same, and your flower wouldn't look like a cross or "x" as much. Very lovely though. Great "non-standard" use of the ink pad!

Love the faux stitching. Learning to do CAS cards can be a real challenge, at least for me!
