The Bleach Blocking Technique

Over at the Craft Stamper Magazine Challenge this month the topic is "The Bleach Blocking Technique".  For my first card I have rubbed over a piece of card with Tim Holtz's Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Pumice Stone and Black Soot distress inks in a very random pattern.  Then you dampen a blending tool sponge, dab it onto the card for 10-20 seconds and lift away.
As you'll see in this close-up the effect you will get are bleached out rectangles with my cards as I used a Tim Holtz blending tool and sponge.  It has worked quite well with this colour scheme but as you'll see below - it didn't work well with Tim Holtz's Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass distress inks.  I personally think it needs darker colours to make this most effective or a better combination.  Think I'll have another play as it was good fun.

The yellow card I have used a free set of IndigoBlu stamps that I got with Simply Cards and Papercraft last time and stamped the items with black Versafine.  I have cut out and decoupaged some elements and added some ribbon to finish off.
This card I have used some Artemio stamps and again stamped with black Versafine.  I have simply finished off with some mirri card and some ribbon.

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:

Happy Father's Day

Here is a card I have made using the Debbi Moore Shabby Chic Garden - Decoupage in a Box CD for my son to give to his.  His dad loves his garden although it would be a lot easier to have a flat garden than the elevated garden he's had to terrace.
For the decoupage in a box card you print off the inner tray, the decoupage, two outer backing pieces which make the folded card and I printed off a sheet of embellishments and toppers as well to make sure I filled up the card and I also used one of the frames.
It is certainly a labour of love to make a card like this as it can be a bit fiddly and time consuming but the effect at the end is well worth it.  As the decoupage has its own little tray to sit in it means that you can use quite thick foam pads to get a good elevation.
Here is a close-up of the decoupage image.  My husband would love a garden like that.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Delicious Doodles Challenge - Friday 6 June 2014 - Favourite Delicious Doodles Image

It is Friday and therefore time for another challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  The topic for this week is "favourite Delicious Doodles image".
Oh my goodness me that is certainly a challenge to pick a favourite Delicious Doodles image.  There are so many fabulous run-of-the-mill images to pick from but also lots of images on the "darker side".

I have decided to use the image called "Rosie" that I have coloured with my Graph'it pens and went with the colour scheme of blue and purple.

I decided to make a decorated MDF tag which I have painted with Gesso and then a layer of blue acrylic paint.

I have then torn up pieces of blue papers from the Bearly Mine Mixed MediaPlain and Simple and Simply Stripes.  I have kept the pieces ragged rather than use scissors.  I then watered down some PVA glue and coated the tag with a layer and then added pieces of the torn paper all over the tag making sure I mixed around the scraps of paper.  The tag was then thoroughly coated with the glue to make sure all the pieces stuck and then left for a few days to thoroughly dry.
The decorated wall hanging has been finished off with some raffia ribbon (which was actually purple but not the right shade so I have painted it with white Gesso) with fibres threaded through, stringed pearls, gems, Prima butterflies (these were light orange but I coloured them with my purple Graph'it pens that I used in the image) and then I have made five 3D roses using two Bearly Mine Designs Plain and Simple papers and a Visible Image rose stamp from the "Isabella Lost Love" stamp set (I have stamped the whole rose out 20 times, 10 on each paper and then alternated the papers and just removed parts of the rose for each layer to decoupage it up).

I am entering this wall hanging into the following challenges:

Have fun in the sun!

As soon as Debbi Moore brought out a CD entitled "Shabby Chic Seaside" I had to have it.  I so want to live by the sea.

I decided to make a stepper card suitable for a male.  I have used a design sheet from the CD which is of a camper van, surf board, flip flops, compass, border and "have fun in the sun!" sentiment.  I have also used a pebbles and starfish backing paper, printed off onto a thick photo paper and then tore into strips showing off the white edge.

I have finished the card off with the sentiment off the CD, die-cut sentiment and some tiny shells.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Simon Says Challenge - Anything goes
Crafty Creations - All about the "s" - Shabby Chic, seaside, shells and surf board
