Delicious Doodles Challenge - April 2016 - Recipe

It's time for another challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.

I have decided to make a Christmas card.  I have used the Delicious Doodles images called "Christmas Holly Border" and "Christmas Lantern".

I took the Christmas Holly Border into Serif Craft Artist so that I could fit the lantern inside the border along with the words "Happy Christmas".  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and highlighted areas with red Stickles glitter glue.  I have added Glossy Accents to the glass of the lantern.

I have used three different magazine freebie papers.

Delicious Doodles Challenge - January 2016 - Leftover (use up your scraps)

Happy New Year everyone!!

2016 has quickly crept upon us.

It's time for another challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  The topic for January 2016 is "leftover - use up your scraps".
For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Lilleth and the Lillies" and it is available from the Etsy Store.  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and added some Stickles glitter glue for some sparkle.

The card blank I bought from Hobbycraft last summer and I have chalked and inked around the flowers to highlight them a bit.

Onto the scraps.  The flowery backing paper I only had a piece a bit short of A6.  I used a strip to highlight the flower border inside.  On the top you can see snippets of the backing paper as I shall let you into a secret - there isn't any underneath the picture, just near the edges on places.  Waste not, want not eh?  I have used scraps of 3 different papers to make the flowers as well.  I used a short piece of ribbon - a scrap not long enough to make into a bow so I just folded over in a loop and added a button on the top.

I have finished the card off with a stamped sentiment, gems and pearls.
I am entering this card into the following challenges:

CRAFT Challenge - Anything goes

Clean and Simple (CAS) Merry Christmas

The other day Teri over at Delicious Doodles gave away a free colouring page on the Facebook Group.  I needed to make a clean and simple (CAS) Christmas card and I thought that this would be perfect.  The image is now available in the Etsy Store as a whole image.  It's absolutely stunning.  Yes it would take a while to colour in but it would look amazing made into a Christmas picture to come out year after year.

I printed off the image to 13x16cm so that it would be the centrepiece on the card.  I coloured the image in with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with Glossy Accents, gold pearl drops, gold gel pen and of course it needed some sparkle so I used my gold sparkle Graph'it pen.  I chalked the background with a mixture of green and gold coloured chalks.

I just simply finished the card off with a red mount.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Card Mania - Christmas

For my card I have used Teri's image called the "Evil Snowman".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and chalked around the edge.

The backing papers are from Summertime Designs.

As I thought this card would be perfect for a teenager at Christmas I have kept the embellishments to a bare minimum and just added some organza ribbon, card candi and a Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment (it does say "Christmas kisses" but I'm not sure I'd want a kiss from this snowman!!)

For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Skully Bishop Chess Piece" and I have coloured it in with my Promakers and used chalks and a gold Pan Pastel for the background.

Delicious Doodles "Go On, Be a Devil!" Adults Only Colouring Book

If you go into any bookshops at the moment you will see Adult Colouring Books.  You will see various topics for the books.  The problem I have found when looking at them is that they have images both sides.  This means you can't colour both sides with alcohol pens or watercolours as this will show through.  Some pages even have that awful textured paper like you used to get in children's colouring books I had as a child.  That's all right for anyone using crayons or pencils to colour but certainly not for pens or watercolours.

Teri over at Delicious Doodles has the answer - a PDF downloadable colouring book.  The first one she has brought out is strictly for adults due to the content and its title is called "Go On, Be a Devil!".

In this book you get 8 pages to print and colour (9 if you actually use the front cover) and there is also information on the do's and don'ts of the colouring book.

The book is in the Delicious Doodles Etsy Store for the bargain price of £6.60.

As I said this one is strictly for adults but as you know Teri also designs more "run of the mill" images so I am sure there will be more colouring books to follow.
Here I have coloured in two of the images in from the colouring book with my Promarkers and chalked the background with pearlescent chalks.  The beauty of a printable colouring book is that you can print to whatever size you want.  As my hands and eyes are dodgy I can easily print these images at A5 or bigger.

There has been a lot of talk that colouring can help with health, work or family issues.  For me I know that is true.  When my health isn't good I don't always feel up to making cards but sometimes just getting "lost" in colouring for an hour can help no end.

Why not pop on over to the Delicious Doodles Etsy Store to look at the PDF Downloadable Colouring Book and all the other amazing images by Teri.

Delicious Doodles Challenge - August 2015 - White-on-White

Today sees the start of the second challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.
Teri's images can now be found in the Delicious Doodles Etsy Shop.

The challenge for August is "white-on-white".
For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Dragon Dreams". I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Stormy Sky distress ink.

For the base card, embossing and die-cuts I have used the same coloured white card so it is all the same.  I have used a Crafter's Companion Texture embossing folder and a Marianne Designs embossing folder/matching die for the backdrop of the image.

I have finished the card off with a stamped sentiment, a Marianne Designs fancy border, die-cut buttons and Joanna Sheen flower die.  All the embellishments, backing paper and card blank have all been edge with a white Stickles glitter glue.  Obviously when taking a photo the Stickles are showing very blue but in reality you can barely see the blue.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Through the Craft Room Door - Anything goes
Digi Choosday - Animals

Delicious Doodles Challenge - July 2015 - Magic and Myth

Today sees the start of the second challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  Thank you to all those that entered the first challenge and the Blog Hop.
As mentioned last month, Teri's images can now be found in the Delicious Doodles Etsy Shop.

The challenge for July is "myth and magic".
For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Dragon Celtic Frame" as I thought that this image would be perfect for some of those difficult to make male cards and added a sentiment before printing.  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and coloured the background with various chalks.

The backing papers are all from my stash.  I have stamped around the edges with a Crafter's Companion Textures splodge stamp and Tim Holtz's Rusty Hinge distress ink and then put them through my Crafter's Companion Textures Hessian folder for some texture.  I have highlighted the texture with my Metallic Gold Pan pastel.

I have finished the card off quite simply with being a card for a male and added some ribbon, button and some pearl drops.
