Happy Birthday Niece

This is a card that I made recently for my niece.

I have used the Paper Shelter image called "Rebel".  For my card I used the composition paper and printed out a few times so I could decoupage up the image.

Backing papers are from Summertime Designs (sadly no longer available).  I distressed the edges of the papers and topper with my Tim Holtz distressing tool for a Shabby Chic style feel to the card.

I have finished the card off with a stamped sentiment, glitter drops, sparkly ruched ribbon and some beads.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Dragonfly Dreams - Happy birthday
CRAFT Challenge - Shabby chic
Let's Craft and Create - Anything goes with the option of paper strips
Daisy Chain - Spots and/or stripes
The Corrosive Challenge - Anything goes
CD Sunday Plus - Anything CD/USB/digital (digital image and papers used)

Happy Anniversary

It was a friend's wedding anniversary recently so I thought this image would be perfect as it reminds me of the film "Grease" which is one of my all time favourite films.

For my card I used The Paper Shelter image called "Hey Baby".  In this set you will get a black-and-white image to colour in, a coloured in image, a complementary backing paper and a composition paper.  I used the composition paper, took into Craft Artist so I could add the sentiment "Happy anniversary" and printed out twice so I could do a bit of decoupage.

The backing papers are from Summertime Designs (sadly no longer available).

I have finished the card off quite simply with a decorative bow and die-cut hearts put through a dotty embossing folder.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Polkadoodles - Anything goes
Krafty Chicks - Any occasions
The Paper Shelter - Anything goes
Simon Says - Anything goes

Happy Birthday

Here is a birthday card I have made using The Paper Shelter image called "Have Fun in the Sun".

When you purchase images from The Paper Shelter you normally get a black-and-white image to colour yourself, a pre-coloured image and a pre-coloured background.

I have printed the pre-coloured background out twice so could decoupage the image, I have added Glossy Accents to her sunglasses and some sparkly glitter glue on her ice lolly.

The backing papers are from Summertime Designs (sadly no longer available).

I have finished the card off with various die-cut shells (only noticing that one of my Marianne Designs seashells looks like it has gone in the bin sometimes.  I was so annoyed about it as I always use these dies when I make any seaside related card - which is quite often!!).

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything goes
CD Sunday Plus - Anything goes with a CD/USB/digital (digital image and digital papers used)
Through the Purple Haze - For the girls

Simon Says - Anything goes
The Paper - Shelter - This beautiful Earth
Crafty Catz - Anything goes with the option of things with wings
Polkadoodles - Anything goes
Allsorts - Anything goes with the option of anything for the girls

New Job Cards

About six weeks ago our eldest son changed his job.  He is now back working at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.  For his card I have used The Paper Shelter image called "Businessman".  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and fussy cut around the image.

The backing papers are from The Works.  I have also used a topper from a Hunkydory small book pad.

I have finished the card off with some twine and card candi.
Our youngest son moved to Southampton on Sunday to start a new job at the University of Southampton. Of course he needed a card as well.  This time I have used the pre-coloured topper and image.  I cut the image out three times so I could do some decoupage.

I have finished the card off with a sentiment and die-cut stars which I have put through two different embossing folders.

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:

Love to Scrap - Anything goes
Love to Craft - Anything goes

Wishing you Oceans of Happiness

I wanted to make a crafty friend a special card to say thank you for her Random Act of Kindness (RAK).  My constraints was that my card unfortunately had to stay relatively flat and needed to have no metal on it as I didn't want to cause it any problems on its way to the USA.

For my card I have used this amazing image from The Paper Shelter called "The Mermaid and the Treasure".

I have coloured my image in with Promarkers.  I have used a little heart stamp around the edge of the image.

The papers I have used are from Sara Davies' Nautical Collection for Crafter's Companion.

I have used various dies t- do the word "ahoy", bubbles, seaweed and shells.

I have finished the card off with some Nuvo pearl drops and some stamped sentiment.

Thankfully the card has made its way to the USA and the recipient liked it.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

I Love Promarkers - Anything goes with the option to add a number
Lemon Shortbread - Anything goes
QKR Stampede - Anything goes
The Paper Shelter - Design Team call

Happy Easter

Over at the Paper Shelter Challenge Blog the topic this week is "Let it be Spring".  Spring to me means the arrival of new flowers/animals, the change in the weather (fingers crossed x) and also Easter so I have picked this beautiful girl playing with her bunny friend for an Easter card.

For my card I have use a pre-coloured image from The Paper Shelter called "Enchanted Dancing".  In this set you get a black-and-white image and a coloured image.  For my card I have used the coloured image and printed it out twice so that I could decoupage the image.  It was a bit fiddly in some areas to cut out but well worth it to add some more dimension.  I stamped the background of the image with a Stamp Addicts cloud die and a See D's dotty stamp.

The backing papers I have used are from Do Crafts.

I have finished the card off quite simply with some wide lace, sequins, stamped sentiment and some Easter eggs stamped and cut out of scraps from the backing paper used.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The Paper Shelter - Let it be Spring (Spring to means the arrival of some pretty flowers/animals being born, the change in the weather and Easter so I have picked this gorgeous little girl playing with her bunny friend for an Easter card)

Good Luck in your New Job Sam

I wanted to make a "Good Luck in Your New Job" card.  For my card I have used The Paper Shelter image called "Businessman".  I liked the colourway of The Paper Shelter image called "Workout Time!" and I have gone with using the backing paper for that one instead and have gone ahead with colouring using that colourway.  The image has been coloured in with my Promarkers.  I have added Glossy Accents to the glasses.  I have fussy cut out the image - a lot easier this time as the image is quite tall as I wanted to fit everything onto a 8x8 card.

I like doing fussy/lots and lots added to cards but I like doing more simple cards especially with male cards.

I have simply used some grey paper and black glitter paper to compliment the backing paper.

I have done the sentiment off the computer and layered it up with the grey card and black glitter card and added a bulldog clip to the top.  Instead of ribbon I have used some silver stretchy fibres for some interest on the card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The Paper Shelter - Digital image

Happy Birthday

I haven't been able to craft for some weeks now so I am showing some cards I have made in the previous months and not posted on my blog.

Here is a card I have made using an image from The Paper Shelter called "Glamorous Girls".  What I like about these images is that you get black-and-white versions to colour yourself but then there are coloured images, coloured background and a coloured image on the background.  I do love colouring images but I still love the first area I went into in cardmaking ie decoupage.

I used the image with the background and printed out three times so that I could do some decoupage.

The backing papers are from my stash.

I have finished the card off with stamped corners/sentiment (and without my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform I would NEVER have attempted this as knowing me I'd not stamp one corner or the sentiment hard enough and it would be ruined!!), lace, frilly ribbon, pearls and organza ribbon.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Paper Shelter - Birthday girl
Crafty Catz - Anything goes with the option of monochrome
Polkadoodles - Anything goes
A Gem of a Challenge - Anything goes
Allsorts - Happy birthday
As You Like It - Favourite - his or hers and why (If I am totally honest I prefer to make cards/projects for females as I can use a wider choice of colours, wider choice of images and of course use lots and lots of yummy embellishments eg ribbon, lace, pearls, gems etc)

Bonjour - Happy Birthday

Here is a card I have made using a Crafter's Companion 3D embossing folder I "HAD" to have after my crafty friend Ria used it.  The pre-coloured image with a background is from The Paper Shelter and is called "French Brunch".  I printed the image off twice so I could decoupage up the image.

I put a piece of paper from a The Works paper pad through the Crafter's Companion "Sara Signature Parisian 3D embossing folder".  I then used Imagination Crafts Starlight Wax in Bronze and White Gold and coloured over the image very lightly with a dry baby wipe.

After I had put the embossing folder and topper on the backing paper from my stash I thought it needed something else before I stuck onto the card.  Before last year I would never have considered stamping anything on in case it stamped wrong and ruined my page.  Out came my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform and I used a swirly Tim Holtz design stamp for two corners and I also used a "Happy Birthday" stamp and stamped on the edge of the image.  It's such a simple device, if you know what I mean, but it has certainly made me use more stamps than ever before on cards.

I have finished the card off wish some flowers given to me by a friend which I have edged in pink and brown to tone in with the card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
