Sweet Pea Stamps Artist of the Week October 2013 - Brigid Ashwood

It is "Artist of the Week" time over at Sweet Pea Stamps.  This is when an artist is showcased on the Sweet Pea Stamps Blog for a week by members of the Design Team.  The "Artist of the Week" for October 2013 is the ever so talented Brigid Ashwood.
Brigid Ashwood's images are available only as rubber stamps at Sweet Pea Stamps.  For my card I have used the image called "Darja".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers/Flexmarkers.  I have inked around the image with my Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet and Tumbled Glass distress inks and added some pearl dots.

For my card I have used a new CD called "Perfect Papercrafting Companions" by Creative Crafting World.  On it there are 75 different colours with backing papers/sentiments/alphabets to match which means you can easily match it up to your coloured in image/pre-coloured toppers etc.  If only there were inserts as well as that would make it totally complete.  I have used a plain pink/spotty pink and a plain blue/gingham blue to match the image.  I have finished the card off with some die-cuts, doily, raffia ribbon, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and Card Candi.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Hi, Kym! Another wonderful design. I love the colors because they are so unexpected in a Pirate design. Great paper combinations and wonderful color integration! I also really like that the card is not heavily embellished. The sparkle around the image is definitely and elevating element and is all this image needs. Great job! We were delighted to find this beauty in our mail box here at 613 Avenue Create!

A stunning image and so beautifully coloured Kym. I am so taken with your choice of toning backing papers - blues and pinks, spots and checks - I would't have even thought about the combination on a card with a pirate as the focal subject but it works beautifully. Love the touches of sparkle that you have used on the image and runs through that gorgeous ribbon. Good luck in our challenge this week. Ingrid xx (OSAAT Team)
