Kenny K's Krafty Krew Challenge - Sunday 28 April 2013

Well this week-end I got into my craft room for the first time in two weeks.  What with me going to theatre for my steroid injections and then two days later my eldest son being admitted for five days with a partially collapsed lung and needing a chest drain crafting had to take a back seat.  Then we made our son come and stay with us for four nights before he went home so he stayed in the spare room/craft room so I couldn't get in there then either.
The Kenny K's Krafty Krew Challenge this week is "Tic-tac-toe" whereby you have to pick a line horizonally, vertically or diagonally and use all the elements in that row/column on your card/creation.
This is a card I've made with the Kenny K image called "Super Mom" which I have coloured in with Promarkers and then fussy cut around.

For my card I have used papers from the Bearly Mine Designs Gingham and Floral Breeze digital sets.  I love the collage effect of the Summer Breeze paper.  I have finished my card off with some dainty flowers which I got in a craft shop in Eastbourne last month, glitter swirls, gem tear drops, purple peel-off borders, Stickles glitter glue on the centre of the flowers, sentiment off the computer and a ribbon bow.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

For my card I have used one of Bearly Mine Designs newest digi sets called Vintage Fantasy.  I love the colours and effects in this one.  I have used two different blue papers and inked the edges with a chalk ink pad.  I have used some scraps of the backing paper and a flower punch to make the smaller layer of the flowers.  The card has been finished off with some lace, "It's a Boy" ribbon, flowers with brad centres, sentiment off the computer and some metal charm baby feet.

Enjoy our 3rd birthday celebrations!!!!

Right onto my card - or should I say cards for this challenge.  As it is Aud Sentiments 3rd Birthday I decided to make three different cards.
For my first card I have used a Robyn's Fetish image called "Sunflower 1" which I have coloured in with my beloved Promarkers.
The backing papers I have used are from a new digi set from Bearly Mine Designs called Floral Surprise.  On the plain green card I thought it looked a little bare so I have used my new Sheena Douglass grungy corner stamp.  I have die-cut the image and then sewed twine around the edge and made a matching bow with it.  The card has been finished off with Papermania Glitterations, lace and a Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment.

For my second card I have used a My Heart Pieces image called "Ankhi".  I have coloured her with my Promarkers, die-cut and inked around the edges with a chalk ink pad.
The papers I have used are Bearly Mine Designs Floral Surprise.  I like these papers that Donna creates whereby there is detail in one corner but then the rest is left for you to put your image/embellishments.  I have finished the card off with some small sunflowers, little red flowers, lace, ribbon and a sentiment from a Debbi Moore CD.

For my third card I have used a Robyn's Fetish imaged called "Friends Forever".  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and then stamped over the sky with a dotty stamp to add some light and texture.
The backing papers are again Bearly Mine Designs Floral Surprise. I have cut some of the flowers from the scraps and used as embellishments for the card.  All the centres of the flowers I have added Stickles to the centres.  I have die-cut the image and used a chalk ink pad around this and a doily.  The card has been finished off with some yellow seam binding ribbon, raffia ribbon and a Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment.

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:

Crafty -Emblies - Anything goes
Crafts 4 Eternity - April showers bring spring flowers
My Time to Craft - Stitching (card No 1)
Allsorts - A passion for flowers

Tuesday Throwdown Guest Designer - 23 April 2013

It's time for week 4 of my Guest Designer role for Tuesday Throwdown for April 2013.  The theme for this week is "make your own background".
This week the sponsor for the challenge is The Twinery.
For my card I decided to make a card for a male (but as I love anything to do with the seaside I'd love to get this card!!) and I have used a new 5x7 inch Darice embossing folder called "Doily" which I embossed on a piece of Coredinations that came with the folder and sanded back to release the core with the sanding paper also included.  I then cut around the doily.  The image I have used is from Delicious Doodles and is called "Beach Huts".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers.  After matting and layering I have punched four holes around the edge and threaded twine through and used my long Tim Holtz brads to add a charm to each corner:  shell, ship's wheel, fish and starfish.  I have finished the card off with a sentiment from a Debbi Moore CD and some Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium in gold to add some sparkle and to replicate the sun shining on the sea.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Kenny K's Challenge - Sunday 14 April 2013

This card was finished last week-end but because of the events of this week it never made it to my blog so I've had to rectify this - especially as the challenge ends in a few hours!!!  Kenny K's Challenge this week was to use "dies and punches".  For my card I have used the Kenny K image called "Super Hero" which I have coloured in with my Promarkers and white gel pen and fussy cut around the image.
I have used plain cardstock but as an accent I have used a Bearly Mine Designs paper from the Love Dreams Digi Set.  I have used a Martha Stewart lattice punch on some of the heart papers.  I have finished the card off with some Spellbinders corners which I have sanded, twine and sentiment off the computer.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Kenny K's Challenge - Dies and punches
Pile it On - Embossing

Sorry for my absence

As you know I went to theatre on Tuesday for steroid injection to my right shoulder and right wrist.  You would have thought I'd had enough of hospitals for one week but oh no.

Last Thursday my eldest son woke with a pain in his chest and arm so he went to see the emergency doctor who sent him off to hospital.  He was found to have a very small percentage of a collapsed lung but after a further X-ray later in the day the amount hadn't changed so he was allowed home for a follow-up this Thursday.

On Thursday my son went for his repeat X-ray only to find out it had got worse and after seeing a doctor had to go home and get some things and return to the hospital for a chest drain.  The wait for us all especially my son was horrible but eventually the chest drain was in about 12.30am.

Yesterday I popped to see him a few times.  He's not doing very well as it was hoped the chest drain could come out yesterday but his lung hasn't re-inflated enough so it's had to stay.  He had another X-ray last night and it's getting slightly better but not enough for the chest drain to come out.  He'll have another one today and see how things go.

We are off soon to see him for a few hours.  His dad will pop and see him first as he's got to work until gone midnight.

Despite what I'd had done to me this week I'd still have preferred to have gone through all this instead of my son.  He might be 20 and taller than me but he's still my son and you want to protect them at all costs.

As you can imagine because of all of this I have been unable to get around to blogs etc so I apologise for that.

Delicious Doodles Challenge - Friday 19 April 2013 - Colour Combo of Green and Brown

Another Friday has whizzed around and it's time for a new challenge at Delicious Doodles.  This week it is a colour combo challenge of "green and brown".
For my card I have used one of Teri's new images at Delicious Doodles called "Dragon Dreams".  I know dragons aren't supposed to be cute but I think this little chappie is!!!  I have coloured my image in with Promarkers and highlighted areas with my white gel pen and coloured the area around the image with Pan Pastels as I wanted a lighter effect.
I have used a backing paper from the Delicious Doodles Oriental Lotus paper pack.  I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder of a brick wall as I thought this replicated the scale effect on the lady.  The card has been finished off with some fibres (this colour I've had for 2-3 years and not used as it is lime green!!), lace, buttons with memory wire threaded through them, ribbon bow, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and some bought flowers held together with a brad.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Yesterday was a very stressful day as it was my date for theatre for my steroid injections in my right shoulder and right wrist.  I had some demons to face even going to be a patient on the ward as it's on the same floor where my mum died 22 months ago and she went to the same theatres for organ donation but I thankfully made it out the other side.  I shall keep my fingers crossed that they work.  Staff wanted to know how much I'd paid for my new tattoos:

Thankfully it didn't take too much for my husband to wash it off yesterday evening.  There's a few marks still remaining on my shoulder but I was too much of a wimp to allow him to rub any harder yesterday!!!  Today I am all battered and bruised and my shoulder and hand/fingers don't want to move at all but they have to.  It'll hopefully settle down by the time I go back to work on Friday.

Special Friend

The backing papers I have used are Bearly Mine Designs Gingham and Bearly Mine Designs Mini Dots.  I have fussy cut around the image (yes, the antennae weren't easy but I cut a bit wider than I need and then colour over it with a black Promarker so it blends in without a white edge) and layered onto the backing papers.  The card has been finished off with some stitched ribbon, card candi, faux stitching and Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment.
