Guest Designer for Love to Create Challenge Blog

I was lucky enough to be offered a Guest Designer post for the Love to Create Challenge Blog.  I've followed this blog for many years and have entered the challenges so it is a great honour.

I was allowed an image from the Ula Section at the Polkadoodles Shop.  I chose to use "Ula be a Mermaid".  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and fussy cut around the image.  I also printed off a sentiment that I got with the image, die-cut and edged with my Turquoise Pan Pastel.

For the background I used a Turquoise, Diarylide Yellow, Hansa Yellow and Pearlescent Yellow Pan Pastels to colour the background.  I then used various seaside orientated stamps (greenery, driftwood, bubbles and fish) and stamped these onto the background.

I then used a Marianne designs die to make the mount for Ula the mermaid.

I have finished the card off with some die-cut greenery and a die-cut shell border and individual die-cut shells highlighted with the the Pan Pastels used for the background and two large pearls.

Promarkers used:

Face/skin - Saffron, Spice and Oatmeal
Hair - Yellow, Canary and Lemon
Mermaid/shells etc - Duck Egg, Turquoise, Putty, Tan, Burnt Orange and Dusky Pink.

Pan Pastels used:

Diarylide Yellow

Colour Crazy Challenge Blog - Friday 23 February 2018

 Good morning.

It is time for another challenge over at the Colour Crazy Challenge Blog.

The topic this week is "anything goes".

PLEASE NOTE:  We are a colouring challenge and therefore to take part in the challenge you MUST have coloured something on your card/creation.

This week our sponsor is "Lemon Shortbread".
For my card I have used the Lemon Shortbread image called "Beanie Girl".  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and distressed around the edges with my Tim Holtz disressing tool and added some brown chalk ink pad to all the edges.

The backing papers are a magazine freebie designed by Sara Davies from Crafter's Companion.  They are shabby chic papers so that is why I went for a shabby chic card.  I have mixed some of the backing papers with Crafter's Companion kraft card and distressed all the edges of the paper and card with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and added brown chalk ink pad to the edges.  It's quite time-consuming distressing all the edges but it gives it a wonderful effect.

I have finished the card off with a scrap of ribbon underneath the lace, die-cut sentiment, die-cut banner, greenery, leaves and flower and a brad.

Promarkers used:

Face/skin - Saffron, Spice and Oatmeal
Hair - Burnt Sienna, Chestnut and Henna

Good luck in Your New Job Kevin

Today is a special day for our eldest son Kevin.  He is re-joining the NHS and is going to be working at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the West Middlesex Hospital.
I thought he needed an appropriate card so I have made this one for him using various images and papers from downloads from the Hunkydory Club called "Thursday - Man's World" and I have used a brown paper with faux stitching and a brown/blue check.
His dad and I so proud of Kevin going back to join the NHS.  Sadly we have nearly lost Kevin twice in his life due to brittle asthma but thankfully NHS staff have made him better.  As an adult Kevin has always said he wants to give back to the NHS so his new job will let him do this.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Ching-Chou Kuik's Digital Stamps Inspiration Post - Friday 16 February 2018

Here is my weekly inspiration post for the Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Stamps Monthly Challenge Blog.

Before I do I'd like to remind you that our challenge this month is "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE".

This week the Design Team were challenged with the topic of "patchwork".

Here is my inspiration post with this theme.
I have decided to make sure I keep making Christmas cards throughout the year like I did last year.  It makes things less stressful come November/December time!!  As this is likely to be a posted card I have had to keep it as flat as possible.

For my card I have used the Ching-Chou Kuik digital stamp called "Holly Fairy" (which comes in a set of 3 other images - Merry Season, Poinsettia Fairy and Cherish Christmas).  I have coloured my image in with Promarkers and then used my Graph'it gold sparkle pen for the background.

The backing papers are from my stash.  I decided to cut 9 squares with a The Works square stitched die and alternated them on the backing card to form a patchwork effect.

I have finished the card off with some organza ribbon, die-cut sentiment and some pearls.

Promarkers used:

Face/skin/fairy's wings - Saffron, Spice and Oatmeal
Hair - Raw Sienna, Cocoa and Spice
Holly leaves - Forest Green and Lush Green
Berries - Red and Poppy Red.

Happy Valentine's Day

Today it is Valentine's day here in the UK.  I recently won a challenge over the 2 Crafty Crazy Critters Challenge Blog where Sasayaki Glitter were the sponsor.  I had a look at the images and chose this one as I thought I could use it for my husband's Valentine's day card.  The image I have used is called "Image #95 - Turtle love".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and added Glossy Accents to the eyes (I am having to use my husband's tablet to take my photos as my computer is poorly and will not download images from my camera.  The eyes in real life look totally smooth but they look a bit bumpy with the Glossy Accents in this photo but not sure how to tweak things on the tablet to enhance pictures).  I then fussy cut out the images.

The backing papers I have used are from a pad from B&M.  I chose the one with greenery as I thought it was a nice backdrop to the turtles.

I have finished the card off simply with a heart doily which I have coloured with Tim Holtz's Shabber Shutters distress ink, stamped and die-cut sentiments and some Nuvo pearl drops.

Promarkers used:

Turtles - Meadow Green, Apple, Leaf Green, Olive Green, Marsh Green, Poppy and Berry Red.
