One of my favourite crafters that comes on Create and Craft is Debbi Moore. She has wonderful paper packs, glitters, print magic etc but my favourites items are her CDs. As I make my cards/creations solely to sell to raise funds for different charities CDs are much better for me - a paper pack is used and it is gone whereby a CD just keeps on giving.
I recently saw Debbi Moore demonstrate a Bookfolding CD and I thought I'd like to have a go at it. Books where I live are more expensive in charity shops so a friend got me some. I've now sent her on the look-out for books with more pages so I can try the longer words!!
I have really enjoyed making this bookfolded creation and it is certainly a nice change from cardmaking/scrapbooking/mixed media.
As I have said I have used the Debbi Moore Bookfolding CD1. Volume 2 has been shown on Create and Craft today and that will be coming to my home shortly!! I chose to use the bookfolding pattern with the word "love" which has a heart instead on the letter "o".
I stamped a background using a Crafter's Companion swirly texture stamp and Tim Holtz's Aged Mahoganny distress ink doing some first and second generation stamping. The spotted backing paper is from my Creative Crafting World Perfect Papercrafting Companions CD.
The toppers I have used for the front, back and inside are all from the Bookfolding CD. There are some backing papers on there but I wanted a dotty one to compliment the stamped background. I printed two pages of the topper sheets so that I could decoupage up the images and had extra embellishments for the inside of the book.
As you can see that I decided to accentuate the word "love" and therefore highlighted just the letters with a brown and red Pan Pastel.
I have finished the bookfolded book with some wooden hearts (coloured with a burgundy Promarker) flowers, ribbon and a LOTV postcard stamp.
I have really enjoyed making this. It's not easy when I have dodgy eyes and hands but it is something you can do a little at a time. Shall I let you into a secret - I've already started my next one so watch this space!!!
The only warning I would give about bookfolding is ............................
The only warning I would give about bookfolding is ............................
