Today is the day for me to show you my inspiration card for the Inspiration and Monthly Challenge Blog.
One of my Design Team members Sylvia picked this image for me to use whilst I was away. The image is called "Christmas Venice Night". I do like traditional Christmas cards but this card is purrfect (couldn't resist saying that!!) for anyone that loves animals and especially cats.
I have coloured the body of my cat in with chalks/Pan Pastels. I did try my Graph'it pens but I wasn't happy with how it turned out so it went in the bin. Colouring animals is still somewhere where I need more practice. I have added glossy accents to the cat's eyes. The rest of the image I have coloured in with my trusty Graph'it pens and highlighted areas with my white Graph'it pen and gold sparkle Graph'it pen. For the background around the cat I coloured the whole area with 7130 (Celestial) and then dotted around with my blender and left a while. I went back and dotted around three times and also added some dots with my white Graph'it pen. I then inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Peeled Paint distress ink.
I made my own card blank using a set of Sizzix Hexagon dies I got recently. The largest shape makes a decent sized card especially with our costs of postage.
The backing papers I have used are from a new release by Donna at Bearly Mine Designs. It is called "Christmas Traditions 2". I love to see different coloured cards at Christmas but personally I am more of a traditional Christmas kind of girl and prefer reds and greens so this set is perfect. It is also perfect as there are lots of the papers that could be used all year round which makes it more cost-effective ie you are not just buying it to use for Christmas cards/creations. If you purchase "Christmas Traditions 2" before Saturday 15 November 2014 you will also get a set of 18 Christmas inserts absolutely free. Here are all the details.
I have finished the card off with a stamped sentiment, a Marianne Designs Anja border that I got for my birthday that I have coloured with a Graph'it pen (I only used one small area of the border - it just shows you don't have to use everything), 2 poinsettias made with my Britannia poinsettia dies that I bought last year, gorgeous Bordeaux organza ribbon tied into a bow from Buckwell Craft Supplies and added some pearls to the centre of the poinsettias and the bow from Buckwell Craft Supplies.
