Happy Easter

I love the arrival of Spring seeing daffodils popping up.  Here are two Easter cards I have made using the same backing papers and digital image but as you can see they look totally different.  The digital image I have used is a new release from Delicious Doodles called "Daffodils 2".
I have coloured both digital images with Promarkers, distressed around the edge with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and then inked with Tim Holtz's Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint distress ink.

The backing papers I have used are Bearly Mine Designs Paper Lace, Spring Daffodils and Mini Dots.  With the Paper Lace layer I distressed with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and then inked with Tim Holtz's Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint distress ink.

The first card has been finished off with a stamped sentiment, doily coloured with Tim Holtz's Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint distress ink, ribbon bow, Stickles glitter glue, card candi and little die-cut butterflies from a Joanna Sheen butterfly confetti die.

The second card has been finished with a stamped sentiment, die-cut leaf embellishment coloured with Tim Holtz's Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint distress ink, Stickles glitter glue, washi tape, ribbon bow, card candi  and little die-cut butterflies from a Joanna Sheen butterfly confetti die.

Delicious Doodles Challenge - Friday 28 March 2014 - Mother's Day or for a Special Female in your Life

It is Friday and therefore time for another challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  The topic this week is "Mother's Day or for a special female in your life".  It is Mother's day here in the UK on Sunday 30 March 2014 but some crafters do not have their mothers in their lives so we have included the challenge for a "special female in your life".
This certainly wasn't an easy topic.  Today would have been my mum's 64th birthday but sadly she died in June 2011 aged just 61.  I have therefore made a card for a sister-in-law.

For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles digital image called "Butterfly Bliss".  I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens and inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Victorian Velvet distress ink.  The bright pink papers are from my Perfect Papercrafting Companions CD.  To the edge of the card I have added a Tim Holtz butterfly border.

I have finished the card off with a sentiment off the computer, pearls, ribbon bow, gorgeous little cameo (I won a challenge recently and the sponsor was The Ribbon Girl and I chose a set of these little cameos along with lots of other goodies), Prima flower coloured with Tim Holtz's Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Victorian Velvet distress inks and some gorgeous little butterflies (this is a confetti die from Joanna Sheen's Signature Dies Range but it's perfect when you want little butterflies as embellishments).

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

My Time to Craft - Mother's day/special lady
613 Avenue Create - Anything goes with an optional twist of birds of a feather
One Stitch at a Time - To make something for a woman in your life
Pile it On - Pretty hair
Crafting from the Heart - Anything goes/spots or stripes
Bunny Zoe's - Monochrome
Artistic Inspirations - Anything goes
Craft Your Passion - Mother's day/for the ladies

Here is a card I have made using a Sweet Pea Stamps image by Charity Dauenhauer called "Fanta-sea".

Card for a special lady

Here is a card that I have made for a special lady.  I was asked for blues and the feeling of spring.  Spring makes me think of the arrival of new animals/birds, the arrival of flowers/greenery and lovely blue skies.  The image I have used a Delicious Doodles image called "Raven Goddess".  I have coloured her in with my Graph'it pens.
The backing papers I have used are from a new collection from Bearly Mine Designs called "Mixed Media".  I love these papers as there is so much going on in them but they are totally flat.

I have used my Tim Holtz distressing tool on all the mounts, image and the backing paper and inked them all with a Salty ocean Versamagic chalk ink pad.
The card has been finished off with a doily, die-cut bird cage and birds (all inked with the Salty Ocean ink pad), some flowers punched out of some turquoise blue Bearly Mine Mini Dots backing paper (and to add some interest for the upper layer I have laid over some turquoise washi tape before punching), gems, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment, ribbon and a Hobby House pearl embellishment.

Male Happy Birthday Card

Here is a card I have made using some backing papers from Bearly Mine Designs.
This is a new set that is due to be released on Friday 28 March 2014 and is called "Krafty Wishes".  I think it will be fantastic for female cards but it's brilliant for male cards as well.

The image I have used for this card is called "Vintage Norton Motorbike".  I have used three different pieces of backing papers from the Krafty Wishes collection.  I have then used a cog border die and some Tim Holtz Old Paper distress ink onto a piece of plain card.  I have edged all the papers and the image with Old Paper distress ink.

The card has been finished off with some ribbon, sentiment off the computer, cog from my stash and some card candi.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Allsorts - All about the boy
Crafting from the Heart - Anything goes/spots or stripes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything goes

Happy Birthday

Yes I know it is not a girly coloured card and certainly not what the recipient expected but she liked it.  The image is from my Joanna Sheen Jayne Netley Mayhew The Digistamp CD.  I printed out the toppers sheet and used the large image on the front and the rest on the inside/backside of the card.
The backing papers I have used for this card are from "The Boys Zone" by Bearly Mine Designs.  Donna has designed an amazing amount of wonderful sets but this is still one of my all time favourites.

I have die-cut some pages out of a book and inked some with Tim Holtz's Old Paper and Vintage Photo distress inks.  I've then scrunched the layers up and held together with brads.  I have finished the card off with some ribbon, gems and stamped sentiment.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Ruby's Rainbow - Happy birthday
Crafting by Designs - Use a ribbon
Crafty Ribbons - Anything goes with ribbon
Crafty Catz - Bling it up
Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything goes
Brown Sugar - Anything goes

CD Sunday - Going round in circles - hope the circles on the backing paper are OK
Crafting from the Heart - Anything goes/spots or stripes
Artistic Inspirations - Anything goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything goes
Digi Choosday - Animals
Creative Card Crew - Animals
