Delicious Doodles Challenge - Friday 22 March 2013 - Fairies

It is time for another challenges over at Delicious Doodles and the challenges is "fairies" and it is time for Team B to show you their creations so please make sure you pop on over and have a look.
For my card I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Gothic Fairy".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and highlighted some areas with my Sakura Stardust clear pen and some Stickles glitter glue.  I had to take a deep long breath and brave breaking into some more of my Tim Holtz papers which my son bought me for Christmas 2011.  They are so yummy you just don't want to use them.  No doubt many of you will know what I mean.  I have distressed all the layers of paper/card with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and inked the edges with chalk ink pads.  Out of some of the scraps of paper I made the flowers using a Spellbinders Blossom die, scrunched them up, used a chalk ink pad around the edges and added a Tim Holtz brad to the centre.  I have finished the card off with some lace, ribbon, Craftwork cards die-cut sentiment and buttons.

Today sees the start of another challenge over at Bearly Mine Challenge.  This week the topic is "anything goes".

This week we have another two great sponsors who are Crafty Sentiments and Teddy Bo.
This is is the prize that is on offer from Crafty Sentiments of this gorgeous little beauty.
Teddy Bo are offering three images from their store for the lucky winner.
For my card I have used the Teddy Bo image called "Scooter Bo".  Yes I know Teddy Bo is the boy bear but I like to have images that have multi uses and when a bear is all prepared on a scooter with a helmet who will know whether it is a boy or girl!!!  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers.  I then got a  scrap of material and then soaked it with the blender pen and dabbed it on the bear to make a fake fur effect.
For my card I have used the Bearly Mine Designs Spring Surprise and used various papers from this set including cutting one out for the stars.  The card has been finished off with some spotty ribbon, card candi, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment, lace and a ribbon bow.

Quiet Contemplation

I have a number of people I know are celebrating their 40th birthday this year - oh to be 40 again!!  This card is for a special lady celebrating this coming week and I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Quiet Contemplation" which I have coloured in with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with a white gel pen.  I decided to go with a purple monochrome colour scheme.

The backing papers I have used are Bearly Mine Designs Mini DotsRose's Dreams, Gingham and a freebies paper for the flowers.  I have mounted the image on a Marianne Designs die-cut which I have distressed with Tim Holtz's Dusty Concord distress ink pad and my Inkylicious brush.  I have made some fans using a Tim Holtz rosette die and scraps of some Bearly Mine Designs Mini Dots paper.  I have finished the card off with a LOTV stamped postcard (which I have inked with Tim Holtz's Dusty Concord), Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment, gem brads, no "40" peel-offs, frayed muslin, raffia ribbon, pearls, beads and some ribbon/pearl embellishments which I have had forever.

Last Crafty Ann's Challenge - Winner from my Blog Comments

As mentioned in my post on Friday 1 March 2013, Ann has decided to shut down the Crafty Ann's Digi Shop and the Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog.  Our last challenge finished yesterday so that was sad.  As a farewell Ann is allowing us to pick one winner out of comments and that winner can contact Ann and pick one item from her shop.

So I have put Random.org to work and he's come up with:
and therefore that means my winner is .................... Marie-Louise.  Congratulations Marie-Louise.  Please make sure you contact Ann and let her know you are my winner (click the main Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog - and at the left hand side click the bit that says "e-mail entries" and this will automatically take you to Ann's e-mail).

Thank you to everyone that entered Crafty Ann's Challenges over the years.  Thank you to my wonderful fellow Design Team members and thank you to Ann for taking the chance on a Design Team Newbie some years ago.

Happy Easter

Teri over at Delicious Doodles released a new image today called "Easter Chick".  He's such a cutie that I thought I had to have a play ........ or two!!
I follow lots of blogs and love seeing what other people create.  One blog I do follow avidly as I love my Spellbinders is Christine Emberson whose blog is called Hope and Chances.  The title of her blog was quite apt for me recently.  I make my cards to sell to raise funds for different charities so funds are very limited.  Bloggers worldwide often send me bits-and-pieces to help my cause but I enter challenges and blog candy and put anything that I win to that good cause as well ie "hope" and "chances" and recently I was blessed to win some of the new gold corner Spellbinder dies from Christine.  This is my first time to play with them and I love them.  They are perfect for any card/creation but I think the shapes lend well to male cards/creations.

At Christmas time I saw Christine make some candy wrappers on Create and Craft so I thought I'd make some with this gorgeous chick from Delicious Doodles.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and knew from the start I wanted to do some Zentangle on the chick's egg.  The backing paper I have used is K&Co which I got for my birthday last year.  I have finished the top wrapper with some die-cut corners, orange fibres, peel-off sentiment and some Papermania Glitterations.
The second candy wrapper I have finished off with die-cut corners, yellow glittery fibres, peel-off sentiment and Papermania Glitterations.
Here is a little sneaky peek of what is inside.  To measure the candy wrapper I used my Crafter's Companion Boxer board and scored to take into account the width and depth of the bars of chocolate.  Bother wrappers were different dimensions as one bar of chocolate was thicker than the other!!!

I am entering these wrappers into the following challenges:

Celebrate the Occasion - Spring is in the air
Crafty Sentiments - Hello spring
Deep Ocean - Cute and cuddly
LEJ Designs - Things with wings
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
Delightful Sketches - Here's one for the boys (I've used the corner dies rather than flowers/other female orientated embellishments as I have made these for my two boys)
Moving Along with the Times - Spring is in the air
Sincerely Yours - Easter
Always Something Creative - Easter
Polkadoodles - Easter

Birthday Wishes

For this card I have used the template by the ever so talented Lyndsey Turner for an Upright Z Fold card.  If you've not visited Lyndsey's blog before make sure you pop on over and have a look.  The image I have used for this card is from Delicious Doodles and is called "Thorne".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers, cut out and some faux stitching added.  The backing papers I was given.  I have finished the card off with a clock die-cut which I have inked with a chalk ink pad, die-cut butterflies, lace, ribbon, sparkly swirls, fluffy brad, Craftwork cards die-cut sentiment and pearls.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Robyn's Fetish - Birthday cards
Card mania - Lots of layers
Love to Create - Lavender and lace
Whimsy Stamps - Stitch it
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
Crafts and Me - Ribbon and lace

For my card I have used the gorgeous Paper Shelter image called "Rapunzel".  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and kept to subtle pastel tones.  I have used Pan Pastels in a blue and white for the sky using my fine Pan pastels tools and then used Tim Holtz's Broken China distress ink and a dotty See D's stamp to add some dimension to the sky.  The backing papers are all from my stash.  I have finished the card off with some raffia ribbon, doily, sparkly brad, Craftwork cards sentiment and pink gel stickers.

Two Different Images ......... Four Different Cards

For these four cards I have used two different Delicious Doodles images.  The first image is called "In the harbour" and the second image used is called "Coming home".
I have coloured all four pictures with my Promarkers.  The bottom two I have them coloured over parts with a sparkly Cosmic Shimmer paint.  I decided to make my own backing papers.  I was recently a winner on the Kenny K's Challenge and I won a voucher to spend at Flonzcraft.  They have a wonderful selection of stamps and it was so easy to place the order and await their arrival.  I picked a nautical set of stamps, some accents and an old car so I knew I could use the nautical stamps for these cards so I have used the anchor and the ship's wheel.  I then used my Inkylicious brush and Tim Holt's Broken China and Faded Jeans distress ink pads to change the background to blue tones.

On the first and third card I used the Papermania Chronology globe that was free with the Creativity Magazine and stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder.  On the second card I used the same globe but this time I stamped it with Imagination Sparkle Medium.  The last card was certainly more trying and I'm not too happy with how it turned out.  I used gold embossing powder and some Frantage flakes but no matter what I did I couldn't get them to stick as I wanted.  I know, I know I most probably need some moreplay time to get it right!!!  The cards have been finished off quite simply as I wanted them all to be male cards - although I'd love to receive any of them as I would love to live by the sea.  I used Craftwork Cards sentiments, ribbon and Papermania Glitterations to finish the cards off.

I am entering these cards into the following challenges:

Crafty Cardmakers - Masculine birthdays featuring technology or gadget (hope the globe, anchor and wheel are OK)
For Your Inspiration - Photo inspiration
Crafty Ribbons - Anything goes with ribbon
Sweet Stampin' - Males

Through the Craft Room Door - Anything goes

I Love Promarkers - Ribbon and bows

Name that Delicious Doodles Image

Teri has been busy creating again and has some lovely new images in the store.  She has also recently designed this gorgeous creation.  There's one snag - it doesn't have a name - therefore Teri is running a competition on the Delicious Doodles Blog and the Delicious Doodles Facebook page to "name that image".  The person who names the image that Teri picks will win a free copy of the image.  Hurry ............. the competition ends tomorrow at 12 noon (UK time).

My Very First Post as a Delicious Doodles Design Team Member - 8 March 2013 - Die-cuts

Today sees the start of another challenge at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog but it also sees the start of my first card to show as part of Teri's wonderful Design Team.  Am I excited?  Of course I am.  I love Teri's images.  The challenge this week is "die-cuts".
I had a look at Teri's images and decided to use one of her newer images called "Daffodils and butterfly".  I love the way that Teri has designed this around a frame so after colouring the image with my Promarkers, white gel pen and Sakura Stardust clear pen there was little to do with the image than stamp a "Happy Easter" stamp on it with sepia Versafine.  The backing papers I have used are from a K&Co pad I've had for some time now.  For the die-cut element of the challenge I have used a Marinane Designs corner and a Joy Craft butterfly die.  All of the die-cuts I have inked with Tim Holtz's Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade distress ink with my Inkylicious brushes.  I have finished the card off with some yellow lace, seam binding ribbon and some pearls.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

We had a massive selection of entries to the Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge last month.  Make sure you check back next week to find details of the winners.  The challenge this fortnight is "Spring theme/colours".
For my card I have used the Sweet Pea Stamps digital image called "Violett" by Joanne Schempp and coloured her in with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with my Star Dust Stickles.  The backing papers I printed off ages and ages ago from Summertime Designs.  I thought I'd use them up as they are so bright and cheery and what is needed for Springtime.  I have made the scroll, flower and butterflies out of the leftover backing papers and dies.  The card has been finished off with some lace, brads, Craftwork Cards sentiment and bow (which I've coloured with pink and lime green Promarkers to match the colour scheme).

Bearly Mine Designs - 5 March 2013 - Mother's Day

Today is the day for another challenge over at the Bearly Mine Challenge Blog.  This time the topic is "Mother's Day".

This week we are lucky to be sponsored by:
and the lucky Kenny K winner gets to pick 5 digital images of their choice from the Kenny K Store
and
Marianne Design who have offered this gorgeous set of two dies for the lucky winner.
Well who wouldn't want to win either of these prizes.  If I wasn't on the Design Team I would be first in the queue!!
For my card I have used the Kenny K digital image called "Super Mom".  I can't say this was an easy card to make.  This will be the second Mother's Day without my mum.  In her honour I made the card in her favourite colour green - but a colour I dislike!!!  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers and Flexmarkers.

The backing papers I have used are Bearly Mine Designs Christmas Light and Christmas Traditions.  Whenever I buy papers/digital papers I like to get as much use out of them as possible and these two digital sets show they are not just for Christmas.  I have inked all the edges of the papers with a chalk ink pad.  I made little flowers out of punches and bits of the backing papers leftover.  The card has been finished off with some die-cut shapes, Papermania Glitterations, ribbon and peel-off sentiment.
