Debbi Moore's Cards for Men CD

I needed to make a man's card and decided to go straight for Debbi Moore's Cards for Men CD.  This is perfect for those difficult to make men's cards.  I used a blue map backing paper - quite ironically of Herefordshire where the recipient actually lives.  The car image, backing paper, ribbon strips, sentiment and small car images have come from the quick cards sheet.  Inside is a perfectly co-ordinated insert.  The card has been finished off with a blue mirri card die-cut mount and Papermania Glitterations.

Today sees the launch of another digital image kit from the lovely Donna at Bearly Mine Designs called "Patchwork Party".  The kit includes a lovely selection of 25 patterned patchwork papers in popular colours.  The papers are 6x6.

I decided to have a little play with a pastel pink, yellow and orange patchwork paper which I thought looked very cheery and spring-like.
I have also teamed it up with a gorgeous orange mini dots paper.  I have distressed all the papers with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and then edges with an orange chalk ink pad.  I put a piece of mirri card through my Swiss Dots embossing folder to carry through the theme of the dots from the paper.  The image is a die-cut image from LOTV.

Some VERY exciting news!!!!

Yesterday we returned from one of the Sun newspaper week-ends away.  We had a caravan at the Haven site in Mablethorpe.  It was a beautiful caravan.  We did have lots of rain but then we did have sunshine and the rain didn't manage to stop us doing things.  On Saturday we went to Skegness.  In May last year we were at a caravan site in Skegness.  Little did we know that would be our last time away with mum so in some ways it was hard to visit Skegness.  The shop we wanted to go to was still there but they hadn't got any sheets of pearls so we couldn't have them - boo hoo.  On Sunday we had a quick visit to Grimsby and Cleethorpes as my eldest son was driving the younger one home as they had work and school yesterday.  Our friend, my hubby and I left yesterday morning after a quick visit to the sea.

A while after getting home I looked at our e-mails and I was DELIGHTED to see that Donna was inviting me to join the Bearly Mine Design Team.  Donna is one talented lady and designs some gorgeous digital papers for use in cardmaking/scrapbooking etc.  I feel very honoured to be invited to join their Design Team.  I shall be in TEAM B so my first creation as part of the Design Team will go "live" on Tuesday 8 May 2012.  Please make sure you check my blog then to see what the challenge is and what I have created.  In the meantime the new challenge has just gone "live" today and is entitled "Baby Days".  Why don't you go and visit the Challenge Blog to see the beautiful creations and maybe have a go yourself.
Make sure you check out the Bearly Mine Designs shop on Friday as it sees the launch of a new digi kit called "Patchwork Party".  You will not be disappointed.

A Very Sad Day

Today should be the launch of the next challenge over at the Crafty Purple Frog Challenge Blog.  Unfortunately Amy has had to stop selling the decoupage sheets as they are not selling enough and although she has a couple of paper packs in the store she has no prizes to offer until she designs some more papers.  For that reason the Crafty Purple Frog Challenge is having to take a break.

Thank you all so much for showing all your beautiful creations to the Crafty Purple Frog Design Team and other crafters.

Passion for Promarkers Challenge - 10 April 2012

Over at the Passion for Promarkers Challenge this week the challenge is white-on-white.  For my card I have used a Saturated Canary image called "Rainy Day".  I have coloured the image with Promarkers, added white dots with a white gel pen and added Glossy Accents to her boots and umbrella for the rain as some dimension.  I have used the same card for the embossing/embellishments as for the actual card so I don't get too many different shades of white.  Some pieces of card I have embossed with a scroll and the Swiss dots embossing folder.  All the card has been edged with a white Stickles glitter glue for some sparkle and dimension.  I have used a Tim Holtz rosette die for the flower and added some strings of pearls.  The cards has been finished off with some flowers, lace, Craftwork Cards sentiment and a seam binding bow.

Hello everyone.  It's time for another challenge at the Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge Blog.  There are some changes so jump on over and have a look and also say hello to the new members of the Design Team.  The challenge topics this time is "recycle and a birthday theme".
For my card I have used the Sweet Pea Stamp by Rebecca Sinz called "The Ghost".  I have coloured the image with Promarkers, distressed around the edges with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and added Black Soot distress ink to accentuate the edges.  One recycled element is the clear protective plastic disc in a pile of blanks DVDs.  I got all Tim Holtz'y with my alcohol inks to add some colour to the plastic.  I like that you can still see the paper below through the alcohol inks.  The backing papers are from my stash and might or might not be DCWV.  I have embossed some pink mirri that had a pattern on it I didn't like with an embossing folder and sat the image on this.  The card has been finished off with some My Craft Studio Click-Print-Go flowers with brad centres, buttons, lace, pearls, faux stitching, Craftwork Cards sentiment and a large bow which is another recycled element from a box of chocolates eaten ages ago!!!

For my scrapbook page of my husband when he was younger I have used elements from the Rhapsody in Blue Scrapbook Kit and also the Cream Dream Scrapbook Kit.  I used Craft Artist Professional to put the scrapbook page together.  I have used various elements from each of the scrapbook kits as I thought they worked well together.  I have so much to learn about this package but managed to do a scissor effect on the paper, add stitching and tweak the photo a bit so that wasn't too bad.

Aud Sentiments Design Team Card - Thursday 12 April 2012

We had a beautiful array of entries for our Easter challenge.  Make sure you have a look on the Aud Sentiments Blog to see who the winner is - it could be you if you entered!!!  This fortnight we are being challenges to "spring/summer colours and a sentiment of your choice".
The challenge is being sponsored by Heart Song Designs.
For my cards I have chosen the image called "Bird and Roses".  Both cards have been coloured with Promarkers, just using slightly different colourways on each.  The backing papers, flowers and leaves are from a My Craft Studio Click-Print-Go CD.  Yes it took me quite a while to cut all those flowers out and ink the edges but well worth it.  The cards have been finished off with a Craftwork Cards sentiment and Papermania Glitterations to the centre of the flowers.
Here is a close-up of picture no 1 where the bird is a darker brown and the sky and grass have been done with a piece of torn paper, make-up sponge and some Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint distress ink pad.
The second card has the bird coloured in lighter colours and then I did spots over the bird with a Promarker blender pen to add some effect.  The sky and the grass on this card has been done in the same way with some torn paper but this time I have used shimmer chalks and the tool that came with them.

I'm not sure which one I like the best but I've now got two more cards for my charity stall next week.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge - 8 April 2012

Over at the One Stitch at a Time Challenge Blog the topic this week is "use a digi".  For my card I have used the image "In the Harbour" by Teri Sherman.  I decided to make a card for Father's Day for the stall.  I have coloured the image in with 9-10 shades of brown as I thought I'd do a monotone card.  The backing papers are one of Debbi Moore's magazine and I chose one with a nautical rope and seashells.  There were some embellishments in the magazine so I have used a ribbon strip and some of the seashells to accent the card.  I have used a wave tearing ruler around the image and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink Pad.  The card has been finished off with a sentiment from my stash which if my memory serves me right is from an Andy Carolann CD.

Over at the Saturated Canary Challenge this fortnight the topic is "thinking of you".  I wanted to make a card for the Sister I work with who is leaving this week to go on maternity leave.  I therefore needed to go and purchase the image "ice-cream and pickles".  I have coloured the image with promarkers, die-cut with a Nestabilities die, chalked the edges with a shimmer chalk and added Glossy Accents to what is the cream in the ice-cream cone and added some sparkly glitter to it and added some Glossy Accents to the cherry on the top.
The backing papers I bought from Funky Fairy before she closed her store.  One was a swirl backing paper and the other a gingham.  I have added some lace which I threaded through some fine ribbon.  The card has been finished off with some sentiments off the computers, various Marianne Designs swirls, lots and lots of flowers, pearls, pins and some gems.
