What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - 8/12/10

Yet another Wednesday has come around and it's time for another What's on your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) over at Julia's blog, The Stamping Ground.  Click here to go and have a look.  I tried my best to look at the majority of blogs.  This week I seemed to find a great deal of posts linking to a person's blog instead of the specific post - it's never been a real problem before - so not sure if Blogger was playing up - but I did try to visit as many blogs as possible.  They are still a couple I can't seem to comment on but maybe that's me.  Oh I do love having a good old snoop.  You all seem to have been making some lovely Christmas items by the way.

Well my first photo shows the cupboard open - as per usual it seems of late.  I've got some work in progress on the desk and I've taken out one of the drawers to show you all.  Toby and Ebony have said they wanted to say "hello".  My husband has a disliking to Ebony - he was my first keel dog bought about five years ago and now he's got about 40 friends - oh dear!!!!

Toby is showing you my drawer of punches.  "Yes" I haven't got that many and "yes" I'd like some more but other things always take priority with me.  My three favourites punches are my Martha Stewart lattice arch (which I hasten to add is the only one I disliked when I first saw it but when I went to Dawn Bibby's shop as part of my 40th birthday treat, Lindsay Mason was there demo'ing and kindly let me have a go at the punches she had and I fell in love with this one.  It's amazing how on first sight we can dislike something but then it grows on you - Magnolia stamps spring to mind!!!) and my two X-cut leaf punches.

Here are two Christmas cards in the making.  I've tried to follow tips from Deby from Inkylicious when she was on Create and Craft recently and also Barbara Grey from Clarity Stamps when she was on Create and Craft on Sunday.  I've got to anchor the trees when the ink has dried and then put a sentiment on and colour the reindeer a bit and hey presto I've then got to pick papers to go with it.  No more suitable Christmas papers to match left to use up so I can have free reign of my CDs - yippee!!!

On the right hand side is my torn paper for the hills.  That is an invoice from goods I got from Pink Gems so that's a good tip to keep things like that for using for tearing etc.  When I ink-blot-plot for some of the trees, I use the backs of scraps of card as when they are used in cards you won't see the back and won't know.  I've mentioned this to a few friends who said they'd never thought of doing that so I thought I'd pass it on and also enter it in the Top Tip Tuesday for this week, whereby you can make a creation using ribbon, give them a tip or both.  Click here to go and have a look.

Well, that's another snoop over with.  I wonder what number I'll be when I post in the morning when I get up.  I think everyone must be getting up earlier as I am getting higher in numbers each week!!!  I shall look forward to seeing all your craft areas.

Stay safe and warm in this bad weather everyone.

  11. It's always good to keep things that make you happy on your desk. I don't think I got around to your desk last week, though you visited mine, so I'm making sure I visit this week! I love your cupboard and set-up. So great! Good luck finishing your cards.

But your lovely cupboard's here, making me very jealous!! I know I'd be a tidy crafter if I had a place for everything! Have a Happy WOYWW!

  14. I think I missed to visit you last week, love your workspace, it's always neat. I had troubles to leave comments earlier today, hope it'll work better now.

You have more punches than I have! I have the MS lattice arch, a corner punch, a heart punch and one for small squares! And the lattice one has grown on me too :)

  16. Ah, organized as usual! I always think it helps to see something demo'd. It's why I like to shop at Costco - all the stord'ouevers. I tend to have a taste and then buy it. Do you think maybe the marketers are on to something??? Thanks for the peek.

  18. Such a neat work area! I have two MS punches and neither work worth a darn. Paper catches and tears. I have tried the tin can to sharpen, the wax paper, etc. Maybe I need a lesson on use from Martha, LOL Have a wonderful weekend. #92

  20. You and I are so alike. I don't like Martha Stewart. I can think of a dozen reasons why I don't like her, including her overpriced craft items. BUT, I have a ton of cheap (like $1.00 bargain punches from Michaels) or decently priced (EK Success and Fiskars) punches and they all SUCK!! Then I found MS punches and I hate to admit it. I am hooked. I hope you can find yours on sale like I did mine. Happy WOYWW (#4).

  21. You already know I love you cupboard .... so I won't go on about it. Have never bought MS punches seen them around and just walk on by. But I do love a demo and you are right that is when it all starts to make sense.
    Happy woyww

  23. Every time I see all those little drawers, I am overcome by cabinet envy! I know what you mean about being repulsed and then attracted by craft items; I thought I'd never have a punch and now I have two!

  24. Yes, MS stuff is over priced but unfortunately not over rated! I can use a 40% discount coupon here in the US so I don't pay extortionate prices. Love how tidy your desk always is.

  25. Like your works in progress, really nice. As for punches, you'll end up with more, be patient! The power of a demonstration huh - you see something in use and suddenly it's gorgeous!!
