Artistic Stamper Challenge - August 2010

I have only just come across the Artistic Stamper Challenge - yes I know, where have I been? - and thought I'd enter this door hanger/calendar I have made into their current challenge "something old, something new".  I have used my new chipboard door hanger and pearls and the old is the metallic butterfly which I've had for ages and ages along with some of the fabric flowers which I bought from our Woolworths before it shut down about 18 months ago.

Well, onto how I made the door hanger.  I distressed the chipboard with Tim Holtz's Dusty Concord Distress ink pad for the whole of the hanger and then just added Black Soot to the edges.  I have purposely kept the background very faded and vintagy (if that's a word).  I then used two different Aspects of Design 58 - Fancy Flourishes stamps around the edge of the hanger, the larger flourish in Dusty Concord and the smaller in Black Soot.  I then coloured in my Sweet Pea image with a mixture of Promarkers/Copics, highlighting some areas with Sakura Stardust clear pen.  The hanger is then finished off with some lace, calendar pad, lots of flowers (fabric, Dawn Bibby glitter card flowers and some cherry blossom flowers which I coloured with a purple Promarker), fibres, ribbons, charms, epoxy glitter circles and a glittery wire butterfly.

This hanger also fits the following challenges:

Sweet Pea Stampers - Flowers
Magical Monday - Flowers
Shabby Team Room - Old meets new (old, fabric flowers and butterfly, new pearls and door hanger)
Totally Stampalicious - Anything but a card
Pollycraft - Add a little nature
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Layers
Gingersnap - 3 dimensional
On Stitch at a Time - Photo inspiration or girlie or both - mine is hopefully both
Paper Players - Anything goes stamping
Paper Jewels - Ribbon and flowers
Crafty Emma - Anything goes
My Partner in Crime - Let's try vintage
Stamping Vacation - Very vintage
Stamping Vacation - Pick 3 Challenge - I've gone for (1) anything with a bit of blue on it (image) (2) metal embellishment (butterfly) (3) image with a hand on it
Creatilicious - Vintage
Dutch Dare - Vintage Summer
Paper Cutz - Use metal on your project
Sarah Hurley - Monochrome
Lili of the Valley - Dotty about circles
Flourishes - Lace
Let's Ink it Up - Anything goes plus a hint of yellow
Pocket Full of Posies - Winged things
Flutter by Wednesday - Anything goes
Rainbow Lady's - Sparkle and shine
Wild Orchid Challenge - Make it sparkle
Stamp and Create - Flowers.
