Feeling Sad/Disappointed

The regular charity stall was shut down today and had made £4.20 for the whole week. This in itself is disappointing but I am a little more hardened to the fact that things fluctuate. The thing that made me sad/disappointed is that I had to speak to the staff as my two A4 cards were gone and they were £2.50 each which means I am short if no other cards were sold. There were gaps on the shelves but I never keep a tally of exactly all the cards. I was told they'd speak to a higher body and see if they'll look through the CCTV or not. About 2 years ago when I did a stall with my sister we had nearly £40 worth of stuff go missing, some of my cards and some of her jewellery. We couldn't do anything as there was no CCTV so we had to share the loss between us. That's bad enough when it's your own money but when it's money for charity like my share was it felt even worse.

I feel very sad and disappointed that this has happened. I was raising funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and I feel robbed for them. My cards aren't expensive compared to a lot ie A6/5" or 6" square at £1.20, A5/8" square at £1.40 and A4 at £2.50 - but obviously someone wasn't happy with that fee.

Obviously I shall have to monitor this situation and if it happens again I might have to give this regular stall up.

  1. Oh Kym how awful I do so feel for you my love. The prices you charge are so very reasonable and yet people still take them and as you say what makes it worse is that it is for charity I don't think anything is sacred these days.....but please don't get disheartened you do such a wonderful worthwhile act for the ones in need without people like you where would we be...

    Big hugs

  2. Hi Kym,
On a sad note - people can be so cruel sometimes - but what you have to remember is that at the end of the day - you are a good person doing good things and they are bad people doing bad things. What goes around comes around - they will get their come uppance one day!!
On a high note - did I see that you had won some candy recently??? If I got it right - well then well done you!! You just have to use it to make more wonderful cards to sell in better places!!
Keep smiling and keep up the good work - good people far outweigh the bad people!!

  4. Oh Kym, I was so sad to read this, but unfortunately I can't say that I was really surprised.
It's such a shame that people would do this knowing that the sales are for charity.
Let's hope that they are never in a position where they may need help from someone.

  5. Awww, Kym, how utterly disappointing and thoroughly rotten of someone to steal the cards you lovingly make for such a worthy cause.

  6. My heart goes out to you, Kym. You do such good work and with all your heart. Then to have people be so cruel is so awful. I wish I was in the same country so I could help you replenish, but know that my heart is with you and all the great work you do.

    Hugs-a-bunches,
    Barb
